Large Group Rental Information:
Longtown Outdoor Education Centre, hidden in the hills of Herefordshire, is one of the country’s leading outdoor education centres. Located on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, in 16 acres of stunning grounds, Longtown Outdoor Education Centre takes advantage of every aspect of its natural surroundings to offer challenging adventure activities and a very warm welcome.

The centre was established in 1964. The main building is over 300 years old and is full of character and charm with low beams, oak stairs, and wood panelling. Our facilities include a fully equipped classroom, sitting rooms and a fully catered dining room. The centre's recently completed Monnow Wing has added new purpose built accommodation for students and staff together with excellent stores areas and a workshop.

The centre's 55 bed accommodation lends itself to flexible use for all sizes of group from 8 upwards. Three of the new bedrooms and shower room meet the Disability Discrimination Act requirements. Camping is also available on-site for those who require a more ‘back to basics’ stay!

Longtown’s on-site activities include high and low ropes courses, a kayak pool, a rock climbing tower, a woodland, an orienteering course and a host of other challenges.

Longtown Village is a thriving farming community with an abundance of wildlife around the Centre and useful amenities such as a Post Office, shop and pub within walking distance of the centre.

Group Accommodation Details:                                             
 
Catering: All food is cooked on site by the centre's catering team who are used to catering for hungry adventurers of all ages.
Kitchen: Fully catered kitchen only
Dining Room:  This atmospheric room with views of the Monnow Valley, historic mementos and inspiring pictures is a great setting to replenish your energy reserves
Sitting Room: The centre's famous 'Dens' (formerly the lounge bar of the Courthouse Hunting Inn) is a cosy, welcoming place to unwind at the end of a day outdoors.
TV and Music Facilities: There is a TV for guest's use in the 'Snug' sitting room.
Heating/Open Fires:  Centrally heated throughout with additional flame-effect fires in the sitting rooms.
Bedrooms: Homely, family rooms with great views which vary in size from two to seven beds. All rooms have storage facilities and a wash-hand basin.
Linen: Full bed linen is normally provided for all programmes.
Bathrooms: Male and female toilets are close to all bedrooms. A separate shower block is located in the Courtyard. A disabled shower in the new Monnow Wing.
Disabled Facilities:  The centre has 3 purpose-built DDA compliant bedrooms and a bathroom together with wheelchair access ramps to its new accommodation.
Children's Facilities:  A wide range of sports and activity equipment is held at the centre for group use in the evening. There is also a football goal for children to use.
Outdoor Facilities:  Superb outdoor facilities with 16 acres of private grounds including a rock climbing tower, woodland, kayak pool and access to the River Monnow.
Swimming Pool:  No
Parking:  The centre has a large private car park for guests exclusive use.
Telecom Facilities:  Public payphone on site.
Smoking:  The centre is a no smoking premises. Smoking outdoors is permitted at one location.
Pets:  Not permitted.

The centre is best aproached from the A465 Abergavenny to Hereford road. Either via Ewyas Harold from Hereford or Pandy if travelling from Abergavenny
 
Nearest Town:  The centre is equidistant between the lovely Welsh market towns of Abergavenny and Hay-on-Wye, whilst the cathedral city of Hereford is also close.
Nearest Shop:  The village shop and Post Office are within walking distance.
Nearest Pub/Eatery:  The Crown Inn Longtown is within walking distance of the centre and sells real ales and tasty home-cooked food.
Nearest Airport:  Cardiff airport is just over 1 hour from the centre.
Nearest Train Station:  Abergavenny.
Nearest Bus:  Buses are very infrequent. The nearest regular bus stop is at Pandy.

Group Rental Prices:  The centre offers a flexible tariff for accommodation, catering and activities. Substantial reductions are available between November and February.
