Abernant House is an unusual and beautiful 18th century country home, situated in the picturesque Wye Valley between Hay-on-Wye and Builth Wells - the ideal base for visiting the Hay Literary Festival and the Royal Welsh Show. The house is also just a short distance from the Brecon Beacons where a wealth of outdoor adventures await.

The house is the perfect setting for a large-scale celebration. Guests use the house for short breaks, long weekends with family and friends, or for longer breaks as a base for adventure holidays. It makes a relaxing location for families with small children, stylish hen parties and special get-togethers – pets are welcome too!

With a fascinating historical background. Abernant provides elegant, yet comfortable, accommodation for the discerning group seeking a get-away with a difference. Abernant provides a taste of the grandeur of the past, combined with today's modern conveniences.

The house has spacious reception rooms including a beautifully-proportioned drawing room and a wood-panelled TV snug. The large kitchen and dining room are warm, inviting and superb for entertaining. There are seven bedrooms sleeping up to 18 (16 regular spaces plus extra pull-out and day bed) and 5 bathrooms. The master bedroom and three other bedrooms have balconies overlooking the gardens.

Visitors can take advantage of exclusive features such as our own personal chef for the evening and the manager takes real pride in delivering a truly personal service.

There are forestry and gorgeous streamside walks from the house. The garden slopes down to the banks of the Nant stream and River Wye where there is a private stone beach.

Telephone for incoming calls and outgoing local and emergency calls. Mobile signal is variable. O2 is the most reliable. WiFi and broadband.

Disabled Facilities

A south entrance provides ground floor access to the house and grounds via the garden. A day bed is available on the ground floor.

Dog Friendly

Yes - well-behaved dogs can be accommodated by prior arrangement. £25 per dog per stay, maximum 3 dogs. Any damage caused will be charged.

Kitchen

Well-equipped kitchen has a four-oven Aga, large fridge-freezer, wine cooler, slow cooker, gas hob, microwave. Dishwasher. Stunning large oak table.

Dining Room

The dining room has a large table that seats 16, ideal for a formal dinner.

Sitting Room

The large, airy drawing room which overlooks the garden has comfortable sofas, a grand piano and lovely open wood fire.

TV and Music Facilities

There is a widescreen TV with Sky and DVD player in the cosy oak-panelled TV room. WiFi connection.

Games Room

There is no games room....but there is plenty of space for games both inside and out! Plus there are board games in the drawing room.

Heating and Open Fires

Large open fire in the main drawing room and a log burner in the TV room (fire wood is provided). Aga in the kitchen. Full central heating.

Bedrooms

5 superking size bedrooms, one with 2 additional singles, plus 2 twin bedrooms. Additional pull-out and a day bed for extra guests.

Linen

High quality cotton-rich bed linen and fluffy white towels provided. Kitchen towels and tea towels also provided.

Bathrooms

5 bathrooms including 1 en suite, 2 shower rooms and a ground floor cloakroom. 2 rooms have an enclosed wash hand basin.

Children's Facilities

The garden has a tree swing and the grounds are great for exploring and den building. Large lawned area for ball games. Paddling in the River Wye.

Outdoor

Private fishing access to the River Wye. A stone built barbecue. Large garden and field totalling over five acres. Wooded area with stream running

There is no pool.

Parking

Large gravel car park beside the house easily accessible from the road with space for 4-5 vehicles. Further parking available at the garden entrance.

All indoor areas are strictly non-smoking.
