Built in 1856 to defend the Milford Haven waterway against invasion, Dale Fort has been a field centre since 1948. This inspirational and unique centre is ideally located for accessing the Wales Coast Path, Pembrokeshire's Coastal Islands with their renowned resident sea bird populations, including puffins, guillemots and razorbills. Dale has a sheltered bay allowing year round access to water-sports. The centre has a Solar P.V. installation producing sustainable electricity and an on-site jetty for easy direct access to the sea. Within walking distance to 4 local beaches.
Perfect for families, activity/craft clubs, large educational and faith groups (sorry no hens or stags).
Hostel-style accommodation is arranged over 3 blocks:
St Brides: sleeps up to 51 guests in 8 bedrooms
Lower ground floor: 1 single with shared bathroom, 2 dormitory rooms with 12 beds and shared bathroom, 1 twin en-suite
Ground floor: 1 single, family room for 6, family room for 7, family room for 10 - all en-suite
St Cradoc’s: sleeps up to 49 guests in 17 bedrooms
First floor: 5 triple with shared bathrooms, 2 twin en-suite
Second floor: 7 triple with shared bathrooms, 2 twin en-suite, family room for 5 en-suite
St David’s: sleeps up to 42 guests in 8 bedrooms
Ground and first floors each have: 3 family rooms for 5 en-suite, 1 wheelchair accessible room for 6 with wet room
There are 4 meeting/classrooms seating 30-40 and a library which can comfortably seat 100. All have interactive whiteboards and WiFi access. Multi-media projection facilities are also available.
The centre has a shop and bar, however, these are not available to self-catering groups unless special arrangements are made prior to the visit. There is a common room as well as a TV lounge, sitting area and games room with a pool table. Board games available.
Activities can be arranged for both adults and children (subject to availability) these are chargeable and must be booked in advance.
Outdoor areas include a field for football, rugby, rounders. A lawn and decked area has been created on the top of the headland for spectacular views across Pembrokeshire and the Milford Haven waterway.
