Built in 1856 to defend the Milford Haven waterway against invasion, Dale Fort has been a field centre since 1948. This inspirational and unique centre is ideally located for accessing the Wales Coast Path, Pembrokeshire's Coastal Islands with their renowned resident sea bird populations, including puffins, guillemots and razorbills. Dale has a sheltered bay allowing year round access to water-sports. The centre has a Solar P.V. installation producing sustainable electricity and an on-site jetty for easy direct access to the sea. Within walking distance to 4 local beaches.

Perfect for families, activity/craft clubs, large educational and faith groups (sorry no hens or stags).

Hostel-style accommodation is arranged over 3 blocks:
St Brides: sleeps up to 51 guests in 8 bedrooms
Lower ground floor: 1 single with shared bathroom, 2 dormitory rooms with 12 beds and shared bathroom, 1 twin en-suite
Ground floor: 1 single, family room for 6, family room for 7, family room for 10 - all en-suite

St Cradoc’s: sleeps up to 49 guests in 17 bedrooms
First floor: 5 triple with shared bathrooms, 2 twin en-suite
Second floor: 7 triple with shared bathrooms, 2 twin en-suite, family room for 5 en-suite

St David’s: sleeps up to 42 guests in 8 bedrooms
Ground and first floors each have: 3 family rooms for 5 en-suite, 1 wheelchair accessible room for 6 with wet room

There are 4 meeting/classrooms seating 30-40 and a library which can comfortably seat 100. All have interactive whiteboards and WiFi access. Multi-media projection facilities are also available.

The centre has a shop and bar, however, these are not available to self-catering groups unless special arrangements are made prior to the visit. There is a common room as well as a TV lounge, sitting area and games room with a pool table. Board games available.

Activities can be arranged for both adults and children (subject to availability) these are chargeable and must be booked in advance.

Outdoor areas include a field for football, rugby, rounders. A lawn and decked area has been created on the top of the headland for spectacular views across Pembrokeshire and the Milford Haven waterway.

Disabled Facilities

There are 2 bedrooms designed for accessibility and a lift within St David's Building to get up to the classrooms. Meals can be taken in the library.

Dog Friendly

No pets are allowed.

Kitchen

Self-catering only for groups that hire out the whole centre. Contains heated servery, rational combi oven, 2 x 6 burner hob/ovens, grill, 2 fryers.

Dining Room

A large dining room seating up to 70 with spacious tables, benches and chairs.

Sitting Room

There is a comfortable visitors lounge and also a common room with lounge seating and a TV.

TV and Music Facilities

There is a common room with a large flat screen TV. There is also a large screen projection area that can be set up for 100 people.

Games Room

Games room with television, a pool table, piano and a selection of board games, with comfortable sofas.

Heating and Open Fires

There is central heating in all accommodation. No open fires.

Bedrooms

Dale Fort sleeps 136 guests in 33 bedrooms (28 with sea views and 18 en suite) across 3 accommodation blocks. A few occasional beds also available.

Linen

Linen is provided for all beds. Visitors are asked to bring their own towels.

Bathrooms

St Bride's - separate shower rooms (5 rooms en suite). St Cadoc's - separate shower rooms, sinks in all rooms (4 en suite). St David's - all en suite.

Children's Facilities

There is a large outdoor space for football, rounders or family games. Board games are available and large screen TVs.

Outdoor

There are several outdoor game areas including a field for football, rugby, rounders, etc. A lawn and decked area with magnificent sea views.

Swimming Pool

We do not have a swimming pool.

Parking

We have parking for up to 20 cars within the Fort and additional roadside parking.

Smoking

No smoking on site.

Booking Information

Non-exclusive price for full board accom from £45 +VAT pppn. Exclusive hire from £1200 to £1600 +VAT per night, optional £24pppn for catering. 10% deposit required or £500 whichever is greater, final invoice payable 8 wks before arrival. Security deposit required with final invoice from £1000.

  • There is a small shop in Dale (in the summer season) and in Marloes. The nearest supermarket is in Milford Haven or Haverfordwest.
  • There is an excellent award winning seafood pub (Feb-Oct) in Dale and a restaurant, that both offer meals (a 10 minute walk down the lane) and a seafront cafe (open in the day time in summer season).
  • Cardiff International Airport, 80 miles.
