Ideal as a venue for multi-generational family groups and a dog friendly property, Maesywerngoch sits in 3+ acres of landscaped gardens which includes waterfalls, streams, ponds and boasts no traffic, noise or light pollution. We are located within the Snowdonia National Park which has been awarded International Dark Sky Reserve status - enjoy the magnificent star gazing that is available here with absolutely no light pollution or neighbours.

This traditional Welsh longhouse is ideal for multi-family holidays, celebrations, anniversaries and birthdays. A luxurious yet laidback holiday home, Maesywerngoch has no neighbouring properties. Whilst keeping the elements of the longhouse's 300 year-old charm such as its original wood beams, slate floors and thick stone walls, Maesywerngoch has been restored and expanded to provide 6 bedrooms (2 cots are also available), 5 bathrooms and 3 spacious sitting rooms, and a recently added external games room.

Maesywerngoch is kept cosy year round by a delightful pillar box red AGA in the kitchen and wood burning stoves in each of the 3 sitting rooms. SKY HD TV is available in 2 of the sitting rooms and there is free WiFi throughout the house.

Maesywerngoch is a perfect base for walkers and amblers of all abilities. We are spoilt for choice with walks directly from the property including a stretch of the wonderful Wales Coastal Path that runs through the forest. Cader Idris is a mere 30 minute drive from the house. The market town of Machynlleth is 15 minutes away, as is the seaside town and beach of Aberdyfi.

Facilities

Dog Friendly

Maesywerngoch is dog friendly. However, there is a £30 charge per dog and a limit of 2 dogs. Please do not let them go on the furniture or upstairs.

Disabled Facilities

No specific facilities for disabled guests.

WiFi

There is no mobile phone reception at the house. There is a BT land line. Satellite WiFi recently installed throughout the house.

Kitchen

Very well equipped kitchen. In addition to a 2 oven, 4 burner gas hob there is a 2 oven AGA. Bosch dishwasher and fridge. Kitchen table seats 6.

Dining Room

We have a very large table suitable for 12 people.

Sitting Room

There are 3 sitting rooms each containing a wood burning stove. Two of them have 50 inch TVs with SKY HD and SKY Sports. Plenty of seating for groups.

TV and Music Facilities

Two 50 inch TVs with SKY Sports, DVD players and a variety of DVDs. Radio in the kitchen. Stereo in a sitting room.

Games Room

There is a separate games room with table tennis and pool table, with washroom.

Heating and Open Fires

Wood burning stoves in each of the 3 sitting rooms. We provide wood, kindling, and fire lighters. Central heating. Aga in the kitchen.

Bedrooms

6 - master superking w/ en suite; king w/ en suite shower; superking zip-link twin; double; king size; connects to day bed w/ pop up trundle.

Linen

John Lewis Bed linen and towels.

Bathrooms

Master w/ en suite shower & bathtub. 2 shower rooms. Further en suite shower room. Downstairs wet room with bathtub and shower. Games room toilet

Children's Facilities

We have 1 proper cot and a travel cot. 2 high chairs and a stair gate. Please bring baby bed linen.

Outdoor

The house sits in 10 acres of landscaped gardens. There is a charcoal barbecue available, outdoor seating and outdoor table and chairs.

Swimming Pool

There is no pool.

Parking

Plenty of outdoor parking. No cars with less than 5.5 inches clearance please.

Smoking

This is a non smoking house.

Booking Information

Weekly bookings with Saturday changeover in holidays, although we will try to accommodate your request. £200 refundable deposit. We do not recommend cars with ground clearance less than 5.5ins – no Mini cars please. No mobile phone reception at the house although there is a BT landline and satellite internet.

We are 3 miles up a forest track from the village of Pennal, 15 minutes from Machynlleth.

  • The village of Pennal is 3 miles away. The market town of Machynlleth is 15 minutes away. Aberdovey is 20 minutes away.
  • The Co-op and Spar are in Machynlleth and we urge you to stop here before venturing up to Maesywerngoch.
  • The excellent Riverside Glan Y Afon is located in our local village of Pennal. There are several good restaurants in Machynlleth and Aberdovey.
  • Birmingham/Manchester/Liverpool around 110 miles away.
  • Machynlleth train station is a 15 minute drive from Maesywerngoch.
  • There are local bus services in Machynlleth.
