Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends.
Rookhow Centre, Rusland, Ulverston, Cumbria, Lake District, sleeps 17 in 3 bedrooms.

This former stable block for the historic Rookhow Quaker Meeting House dating from 1725 is now a comfortable bunkhouse adjoining 12 acres of its own woodland, Quakers Wood. Rookhow Centre has 17 pine beds and space for extras on bed settees. Camping alongside the accommodation or in the woods is also possible.

The nearby historic Meeting House is available for celebrations, seminars and activities - and often used by yoga and drama groups, singers and musicians!

Rookhow is especially popular for family celebrations and get-togethers, is excellently located for cycling, walking and climbing groups and orienteers and for education and youth activities - it has frequently been used by schools for Duke of Edinburgh Award preparation and for Mountain Rescue Team Training.

Being generally out of mobile phone reception, and with WiFi access controlled by the Manager in agreement with group leaders, Rookhow Centre offers a uniquely peaceful 'out of this world' setting and atmosphere.

There are wonderful paths from Rookhow throughout the unique Rusland Valley with Hay Bridge nature reserve an easy walk away where lives one of the largest herds of red deer in the country. Rookhow is also close to the great award winning Grizedale Forest Park with walking, cycling, sculpture and nature trails, children's play facilities and cafe. Grizedale is home to the renowned 'Go-Ape' woodland ropes adventure course.

While peaceful and away from the honeypots of the Lakes, just a short drive from Rookhow takes visitors to some of the National Park's finest attractions and scenery: Windermere Lake Cruises, Coniston Launch and Gondola, Lake District Motor Museum, Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway, Brantwood, Wray Castle. Lakes Coniston and Windermere are 20 minutes drive away, the mountains of The Langdales and Coniston Old Man a few minutes more. Some of the Lake District's best inns and eateries are also close by.
