Big rental accommodation in the Peak District National Park for large activity groups

YHA Edale Activity Centre, Hope Valley, Derbyshire, sleeps 30-157 in 31 bedrooms.

The Centre is situated in it's own quiet valley of Lady Booth Brook, with wooded grounds and open moorland/hillside immediately to the rear. Easy access, in just a few metres, to designated open access land leading up to the renown Kinder Scout plateau enables guests to wander at will from the door.

Accommodation is in three separate buildings of 82, 41 and 34 beds, each with its own toilets/showers and classroom/communal room ensuring a degree of exclusivity for any group or function. There are 157 beds in total for large groups for whom exclusive use of the whole site is available if in excess of 100 people.

Activities such as High Ropes Course, Archery, Orienteering, Low Ropes Course, Team Building Exercises, Tower Climbing/Abseiling can be provided on-site. Additional off-site activities such as Climbing, Caving, Canoeing, Kayaking, Weaselling, Raft Building, Abseiling and Walking in the dales of the White Peak are all accessible with our fleet of minibuses.

Activities can be provided in different formats, from one-off sessions to fully inclusive residential packages that keep participants busy morning, afternoon and evening. Whatever the format, all activities are delivered to the specific requirements of the group allowing them to be accessible and inclusive to all. Consequently, rewarding outdoor experiences are available to both Primary and Secondary Schools, Sports Clubs, Youth Groups, Colleges and Universities.

Both buildings and activities are accessible to those with a range of learning and/or physical disabilities who, like all other participants, are reassured of both safety and quality by over 25 years of experience plus an AALS license, Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge and Adventuremark.

Whether children with an educational agenda, young people widening their horizons, a group of friends reuniting or a family break with a difference this is a memorable and perfectly positioned venue for exploring the great outdoors.

Facilities

Self-catering kitchen and dining area with all facilities is available to a limited number of guests and can be booked for exclusive use by any group.
Seating up to 75 guests with great views and a licence to provide alcohol so that guests can enjoy a drink with their meal.
A quiet, spacious room seating approximately 40 on leather chairs and sofas, with a great view of Lose Hill. Books and board games are available.
One large flat-screen TV is located in the Games Room where the calls of Curlew and Red Grouse provide background music.
A payphone, internet access and WiFi are all available but mobile reception is very limited.
Always accessible and featuring Pool Table, Table Football, Table Tennis, large flat-screen TV, Games Machines and Giant Jenga/Connect 4.
There are no open fires but controllable central heating is provided throughout in all communal rooms and every bedroom.
A wide variety of rooms of all sizes and aspect. Numbers of beds vary between 2 and 12, and many, but not all, have full en-suite facilities.
All bed linen is provided, as standard, on arrival. Towels can be hired.
Each building has a combination of en-suite rooms plus communal showers/toilets, generally ensuring that group leaders have their own facilities.
A number of en-suite rooms are fully accessible to guests with any level/type of disability including those in wheelchairs and the visually impaired.
Cots and high chairs are available. No other specific facilities but every effort is made to accommodate children in the most suitable rooms.
The grounds include Orienteering courses and a Nature Trail, a Low Ropes Course, games areas and lawn with picnic tables. Instant access to footpaths.
No pool on site but famous heated outdoor pool in Hathersage (8 miles), heated indoor pool in Buxton (14 miles). Numerous wild swimming sites nearby.
Large car park on site, accessible to minibuses but not coaches which can park at the bottom of the drive and luggage transferred in our minibuses.
Smoking is only permitted in designated outside areas.
Dogs (except guide dogs) are not allowed on the site due to the proximity of both sheep and ground nesting birds.

Location

The Peak District National Park is the most accessible for most of the population & our central location within it enables day trips to many venues.
Buxton, Bakewell & Tideswell are all famous local market towns within a 30 minute drive & the bright lights of Sheffield only ten minutes further.
Basic foodstuffs & gift items are sold on site & there are small grocery stores in the local villages of Edale & Hope (1 & 3 miles away respectively).
A number of excellent pubs in nearby villages (e.g. The Nags Head in Edale - official start of The Pennine Way) serving meals & numerous local ales.

Booking Information

Prices vary from £8 for a young persons overnight to £337 for a 4 night package of full board accommodation & all activities for a young group member.

Edale station, on the main line between Sheffield & Manchester, is only a mile from the Centre. We will transfer guests, on request, in our minibuses.
Buses from Sheffield & numerous local towns stop in Hope, only 3 miles away.
Manchester Airport is only a 45 minute drive away or can be quickly & efficiently reached by coach or rail.
