What it lacks in size, Bath certainly makes up for in sheer prettiness. The elegant Georgian buildings in a rich sandstone seem to glow in late evening light, (the Royal Crescent and the Circus are some of the most-admired spots) and the history of the city dating back to the Romans can be explored at places like the Roman Baths.

For an altogether more relaxing experience then head to Thermae Bath Spa, where you can take the waters at this gorgeous spa complex. The quaint streets are perfect for a slow wander, and the variety of shops, restaurants and cafes will keep you and your group busy (and it’s prefect for a stylish hen party). If you’re a Jane Austen fan, then don’t miss the Jane Austen Centre, just up the road from Queen Square, or the Bath Assembly Rooms, where some of her novels were set.
