Group Accommodation Stranraer

Previously home to the ferry port which connected Scotland and Northern Ireland, and also known as the gateway to the Rhinns of Galloway, the town has a lovely sheltered position at the top of of Loch Ryan. It’s also the setting for the Stranraer Oyster Festival each September, which celebrates the unique coastal heritage of the area. If you don’t make it for the oysters, then the town is packed with places to eat. And while you wander around town, then look out for the ruined Castle of St John on a green in the main street if you’re with history-loving friends. Just outside the town, it’s worth the trip to Castle Kennedy Gardens where you’ll find a giant lily pond, two lochs and the castle itself to explore. If gardens are your thing, then Glenwhan Gardens and Arboretum has been described as one of the most beautiful gardens in Scotland.
