Wells is a tiny city that should definitely be on your list to see when you stay in Somerset. From the stunning Gothic Cathedral to the moated Bishop’s Palace where swans swim round the outside, you’ll love the tangible sense of the past everywhere you turn. Wells is often used as a filming location for both TV and films too, so you might find you recognise some of the buildings like Vicars’ Close, which may be the oldest residential street with original buildings in Europe. As you’d expect there are lots of eating and drinking options, and some lovely independent shops.
