Augill Castle is unlike anywhere you have ever stayed before. Think of your own country pile where creaking floorboards, ticking clocks and distant laughter take the place of piped music, hushed tones and false formality.

The multi-award winning castle (Telegraph 2025 Best Boutique Family Hotel, Enjoy England Guest Accommodation of the Year, Sunday Times 100 Ultimate British Hotels, Good Hotel Guide Cesar Award/2025 Editors Choice Romantic Hotel) excels at looking after families, with many returning year after year, every time with a new generation in tow. As one guest wrote in 2017, there is something here for everyone from 2 to 80.

It's the relaxed home from home vibe which makes it a real hit and it's that same feeling that gives weddings at the castle such a magical feel and makes work getaways truly memorable and inspiring.

The castle has 15 individually styled bedrooms and suites, 15 acres of grounds to explore and glorious public rooms to enjoy. The dining room can seat up to 46 and private dinner parties are hosted in the drawing room.

The castle doesn't normally serve lunch but afternoon tea is a real highlight.

Augill really comes into its own when it is hired exclusively. so that your party, celebration or meeting has the run of the castle with no non-resident guests with whom to share the magic.

The castle has an innovative bar - The Great British Bar - which celebrates all that is great about British artisan brewing, distilling, fermenting and pressing. The bar is regularly stocked with a rotating selection of drinks sourced exclusively from small producers.

Children (and adults) love the 12 seat art deco inspired cinema, the library full of games and dressing up clothes and outside there are gardens to explore with a fort in the trees, playground, tennis court, treehouse and chickens to feed.

Augill Castle is surrounded by world class landscapes with the Yorkshire Dales (1 mile away) and Lake District (4 miles away) National Parks and the North Pennines AONB (1 mile away) all on the doorstep.

## Facilities

- **Dog Friendly:** Dogs are welcome in rooms with direct garden access but are not allowed into the main public rooms.
- **Accessibility:** Three bedrooms are on the ground floor with level access. There is an accessible toilet in the castle and a braille version of our guest information.
- **WiFi:** The castle is fully WiFi enabled. WiFi is free with the option to pay to upgrade for more bandwidth. The castle does not have superfast broadband.
- **Kitchen:** Self catering or fully catered and our menus are designed to suit your party's preferences. If you want it and we can do it, you've got it.
- **Dining Room:** The blue and gold dining room is at the heart of the castle. Everyone dines together at long oak refectory tables. Think Hogwarts without the owls.
- **Sitting Room:** The Music Room is our main gathering space, it is multi-functional. There is also a library, drawing room, panelled hall and conservatory bar.
- **TV and Music Facilities:** All bedrooms have TV and DVD player. There is a TV and games console in the library.
- **Games Room:** The library has a pool table, dressing up, games and toys. We also have a very full DVD library.
- **Heating and Open Fires:** The castle is centrally heated and there are log fires or wood burning stoves in all the main public spaces plus several bedrooms.
- **Bedrooms:** Eight bedrooms in the main castle, two interconnecting, and 5 in the gatehouse, stables and orangery attached to the main castle.
- **Linen:** The castle is fully serviced.
- **Bathrooms:** All bedrooms are en suite.
- **Children's Facilities:** Baby boxes with everything for small children are included as well as nappy disposal units, cots, high chairs and stair gates. No child minding.
- **Outdoor:** Fifteen acres of landscaped and natural grounds with playground, tennis, outdoor seating, barbecue. Views of open country.
- **Parking:** Parking for approx twenty cars on site.
- **Smoking:** No smoking throughout the property.
