Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. Ballarat House, Margate, Kent, sleeps 5 - 10 in 5 bedrooms.

Immaculately clean and minutes from the glorious sandy beaches of Cliftonville with Turner Contemporary 5 mins walk, and Walpole Bay 10 mins. Ballarat House offers plenty of space for up to 10 guests to spread out over 5 bedrooms with 2 large living areas and 2 kitchens. Eat out or dine at home with take outs from our outstanding local restaurants.

Ascend the geometric tiled steps lead up to the original front door, and into the dramatic hallway featuring a large gilt mirror and oversized sputnik chandelier.

Living area:
2 super comfy sofas, an armchair and gold rocking chair. Soft cushions and throws aplenty! There is a large television with Netflix. Put the wood burner on to create a cozy winter bolthole, or open the windows on each side of the room to let the summer breezes blow through. Open plan to the kitchen, fantastic for large group gatherings.
There is a second spacious living area with full kitchen on the lower ground floor. It has 2 sofas, a table and wood burner. There is also a snug area in the internal hallway.

Main kitchen:
The colourful kitchen has a large bespoke wooden table with benches, large range cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, Lavazza coffee maker, crystal glasses, high quality cookware and everything you will need to create wonderful meals.

Bedrooms:
Upstairs there are 4 unique bedrooms: 2 large bedrooms with plush velvet kingsize beds, and 2 small bedrooms with beds that can be made up as kings or singles. Ample storage for holiday stays in cupboards.
On the lower ground floor is a further large king bedroom.

Bathrooms:
There are 3 bathrooms. Upstairs there is a large bath with electric shower and toilet - a great bath to put the kids in! On the ground floor there is a small wet room shower and toilet. On the lower ground there is a wet room shower, freestanding bath, basin and toilet.

Outside:
The main garden is accessed by steps from the ground floor, and a patio area with picnic table is accessed from lower ground. Feature tiling and lots of plants, metal table with 2 chairs. Pergola area with large custom made wooden table to seat 10. Large gas barbecue. Wood store and play boat for small kids.

Accessibility

No specialist disabled facilities; please note that because this is an old Victorian house there are numerous steps throughout.

WiFi

Easy to access WiFi, though coverage can be patchy in some of the rooms due to thick walls. Use it as a chance to switch off!

Kitchen

The colourful main kitchen has a table with benches seating 10, large range cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee maker and high quality cookware.

Dining Room

The dining area is open plan to the living area. It features a large bespoke wooden table, vintage dresser and industrial chandelier style lighting.

Sitting Room

2 large comfy sofas, an armchair and gold rocking chair. Wood burner, soft cushions and throws. Gold palm leaf lamp, games and a large TV.

TV and Music Facilities

Two large TVs with Netflix in the living areas on the ground floor and lower ground. Bluetooth speakers in kitchen dresser.

Games Room

No games room, but we do have lots of games. Stored in the cupboards in the lower ground living area.

Heating and Open Fires

2 wood burners, one in each of the living areas.

Bedrooms

5 bedrooms: 3 large luxury bedrooms with kingsize beds and spacious cupboards. 2 smaller bedrooms that can be made up as twins or kings.

Linen

Luxurious cotton linen bedding and towels included, including plush hand towels and bath towels for each guest.

Bathrooms

3 bathrooms: Upstairs: large bath, shower, toilet. Ground floor: wet room shower, toilet. Lower ground: wet room shower, large bath, toilet.

Children's Facilities

Small wooden play boat in back garden for young children.

Outdoor

Large walled garden with small table and 2 chairs plus pergola area with large table seating 10. Egg chair and gas bbq. Lower patio with picnic table.

Parking

There is free on-street parking outside the house and on the surrounding streets.

Smoking

No smoking in the house. Please ensure you get rid of any cigarette butts if you smoke in the garden.

Week long stays: Friday – Friday.

Weekends: Friday – Monday. 

Midweek: 2 nights minimum

  • 5-10 mins walk from the quirky shops & restaurants inn Margate Old Town. Easy access to other Kent towns including Sandwich, Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay - all 20-30 minutes drive.
  • 1 min to shops on the seafront, including Haeckels, Daisy, Bar Nothing, Forts Coffee. 2 mins walk up the road to a corner shop and the shopping district on Northdown Road.
  • Daisy is 1 min walk down the road. A trendy new place with views over the seafront. Forts Coffee is around the corner. New places pop up all the time - have fun exploring!
  • Gatwick or Stansted.
  • Margate train station, 5 mins away in a taxi. Half an hour walk.
  • Buses on Northdown Road, 2 mins walk.
