Wanlockhead holds the title as Scotland's highest village at an elevation of 1531ft above sea level. It is situated in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, nestled in the stunning Lowther Hills at the head of Mennock Pass, which forms part of the famous Southern Upland Way. We are 1 mile south of the village of Leadhills. Wanlockhead can be accessed via the B797, which connects it to the A76 near Sanquhar and the A74(M) motorway at Abington.

Despite our rural location the village is only 7 miles from the M74 and less than an hour from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Carlisle and Ayr by car. There is a small shop in the next village but we do recommend doing a food shop before you arrive, or having one delivered to the house. Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury’s all deliver to our location.
