Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. Brummell Barn at Cheverton Farm, Newport, Isle of Wight, sleeps 5 - 12 in 5 bedrooms.

Brummell Barn at Cheverton Farm on the Isle of Wight can sleep 12 people in 5 bedrooms with 4 bathrooms. We recommend that it sleeps no more than 10 adults and two children in bunk beds. 

Well suited to accommodating large family groups of all ages, a holiday at Brummell Barn offers private use of the indoor heated pool adjoining the barn shared with one other cottage and many other facilities. These include a games room with table tennis and air hockey, a snooker room, children's playground, farm animals and an enclosed back yard with ride on tractors, outdoor seating and a brick BBQ.

This holiday house near Shorwell offers spacious accommodation, including a large kitchen diner and upstairs sitting room featuring a stunning picture window, with countryside views and smart TV.

We welcome young children including babies, with many useful facilities in the cottage such as fitted stair gates, travel cots, high chairs, toys and books.

There is plenty of off-road parking at the farm outside the barn and we have a 7kw EV charger available for use.

We allow two well behaved dogs for a small charge, with many fantastic walks from the farm to explore. The cottage also has an enclosed courtyard which is safe for dogs.

The mixed 730 acre farm is also home to the Isle of Wight Mountainbike Centre with many kilometres of exciting downhill trails and hire bikes available. Also situated on site is the Isle of Wight Meat Co. butchery where you can buy meat such as lamb, pork and beef produced on our own busy working farm.

Brummell Barn is situated just south of the central market town of Newport, which is 10 minutes away, and a similar distance to the beautiful sandy south coast beaches. Nowhere on the island is more than a 30 minute drive so it's easy access to all the many attractions and eateries on the island.

The farm is situated in an AONB with rolling downland, abundant wildlife including sightings of the rare white-tailed sea eagle and spectacular views of the south coast of the island from our top fields. It is a popular walking and cycling holiday destination and well suited to any outdoor activity enthusiast with paragliding, surfing and golf facilities available nearby.


Dog Friendly

2 well behaved dogs are allowed for a small charge payable on booking. No other pets allowed including cats due to danger of escape.


The house is not suited to disabled visitors as there are steps throughout the house. It is on several levels with bedrooms upstairs and downstairs.


Unlimited WiFi. Mobile reception may be limited for some providers but is usually available upstairs.


Includes an electric range oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, drinks fridge, microwave, large table to seat 12, breakfast bar and small sofa.

Dining Room

The dining room is part of the kitchen with a large 12 seater table, 6 dining chairs and bench seating on 2 sides.

Sitting Room

The upstairs sitting-room has comfortable seating for 11 adults and one child, toys and books, large coffee table, picture window and smart TV.

TV and Music Facilities

30 inch smart TV in the kitchen. 43 inch Smart TV with Netflix and Bluetooth speaker in sitting room. DB radio in kitchen.

Games Room

Table tennis, air hockey and table football in an enclosed barn next to the main farmhouse.

Heating and Open Fires

Oil central heating with radiators throughout the house and electric heated towel rails in the two main bathrooms.


Ground floor: 1 king, 1 with triple single beds, 1 superking/twin zip link. 1st floor: 1 king, 1 with triple single beds including 3ft bunk beds.


All linen is provided free of extra charge unless damaged. A large bath sheet per person, hand towels in all bathrooms, and tea towels.


1 with bath, 3 separate toilets, 1 with toilet and shower, 1 en suite with shower and toilet, 1 en suite shower room.

Children's Facilities

2 travel cots with thick mattresses, 2 high chairs, baby monitor, fixed stair gates, cupboard locks, baby bath, and changing mat. Toys and books.


Ride-on tractors and scooter. Brick BBQ. Outdoor soft seating and table. Childrens playground with trampoline. Enclosed yard safe for children/dogs.

Swimming Pool

10m indoor heated pool next to barn for private use with simple booking system. 1.5m deep and available all year round with no extra charge.


Off-road parking available for 3/4 cars outside the property free of charge with private use. CCTV covering area in use.


No smoking allowed indoors but smoking is permitted outside except in playground or near hay/straw stacks.

Booking Information

Booking can be directly from our website with secure card payment (Stripe). 10% non-refundable deposit payable and balance 8 weeks before the stay. No arrivals on Sunday unless by special arrangement. Minimum 3 night stay. 2 night weekends on request at 10% discount on 3 nights

At Cheverton Farm near Shorwell on the B3323 on the Isle of Wight. 10 minutes south of Newport, 20 minutes from the ferry ports of Fishbourne, East Cowes and Yarmouth. Near sandy beaches.

  • Newport is the nearest larger town and is 4 miles away or 10 minutes drive. The small village of Shorwell is 1 mile south of the property.
  • There is a Co-op shop in Carisbrooke on the edge of Newport. It is less than 10 minutes drive. It is a similar distance to the village shop in Brighstone and there are large supermarkets in Newport.
  • The Crown Inn at Shorwell is 1 mile away which serves food. A popular gastropub, The Blacksmiths at Calbourne, is a 10 minute drive. There are numerous restaurants within a 20-25 minute drive.
  • Sandown Airport (private) is 10 miles away and Southampton airport is 5 miles from the Red Funnel ferry terminal at Southampton. The car ferry journey takes 1 hour or 25 mins on passenger fast cat.
  • Ryde station is 12 miles away although it operates a limited service to Shanklin and back. Nearest mainland station is Portsmouth Harbour and the passenger ferry takes 25 mins to Ryde.
  • The number 12 bus stops outside the farm from Newport but is limited to 7 services per day and none after 6pm.
