Buzzards House is a totally unique homestay as it is the closest rental house to the lovely Buzzards Wood, a National Trust gem. It has a magical rural setting, surrounded by gorgeous gardens and orchards with the River Dart gently flowing through. A fabulous holiday house for multi generational groups, friends get-togethers and family fun.
The ground floor is primarily an open plan oak floored room, with a large dining table and huge comfy sofas with French doors opening onto the verandah. And there's a sun filled conservatory to one side.
The Verandah has a large dining table, barbecue, fire pit and relaxed seating close to the hot tub. It's a brilliant sun trap as well as being somewhere to sit outside on balmy evenings with a glass of wine, listening to the birdsong and taking in the countryside surroundings.
There is also a large sitting room with a large L shaped sofa, TV, books, games, desk - a perfect room to watch movies, have quiet time and escape the rest of the gathering.
There's a downstairs loo and boot room as well as a laundry room with additional fridge freezer. The kitchen is practical, well equipped and conveniently placed for the dining table although it has to be said that many meals are eaten outside at Buzzards House.
The garden is huge with orchards on both sides. We have created a picnic spot by the River Dart in the main orchard - a great Swallows and Amazons space for the kids. Owls and birdlife are wonderful and every now and again, a deer steals through the orchard.
The 5 bedrooms upstairs are a combination of superkings and kings for 10, with two pull out beds for children. All beds made up with the white bed linen and stylish soft furnishings. There are 3 bathrooms including 2 shower rooms and a bathroom with freestanding bath.
Spring Cottage is a self contained gorgeous separate superking cosy room.
To do: Buzzards Wood is literally on the doorstep, it is a short drive to the local pub in Cadeleigh and the market town of Tiverton is nearby. There are fabulous gardens to visit such as RHS Rosemoore and Knightshayes, Exeter Cathedral, the Tiverton canal, the North Devon Coast, Wellington memorial, glorious Exmoor and Dartmoor.
