Set in 7 acres of lovely grounds with beautiful gardens, lawns, terraces and Rede Valley views, Byrness House is a great family holiday house near Newcastle, perfect for multi generation families and friends getting together for a holiday or to celebrate a special occasion. It's the ideal choice as a base to explore this wonderful part of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders with easy access to jaw dropping beaches, Hadrian's Wall and castles including Alnwick, featured in the Harry Potter films. The area is also a mecca for keen cyclists and hikers with close proximity to the Pennine Way, also excellent for dog walks, so bring your 4-legged family member too.

Byrness House has fantastic living accommodation; the kitchen is great for group cooking and fully equipped, with kit including a dishwasher and washer dryer. Sitting down together at the inside dining table for 10 is an integral part of the whole Byrness House experience, linger over good food and reconnect with your group. The lounge has plenty of relaxed seating, somewhere to sit back after dinner and relax.

The 5 bedrooms spread across the 1st and 2nd floors are configured as doubles, a twin, a king and a triple family with space for a cot if needed. All have south or east facing views and traditional working shutters, while some have high ceilings. 2 shower rooms and a family bathroom with bath provide contemporary facilities.

Sitting outside at Byrness House is a real treat. Head to the top terrace for amazing views while the children run around on the lawn. Try a spot of stargazing - you are in the darkest patch of the Gold Tier International Dark Sky Park, just a short drive from Kielder Observatory.

Hexham is worth a visit for the Old Gaol Museum, the site of the UK's first purpose built prison. Make a day of it and pop into the Sill National Landscape Discovery Centre to connect with nature and take in the fascinating exhibitions. Newcastle upon Tyne is an hour away with the best shopping and nightlife.

Booking Information

Saturday to Saturday weekly bookings. 3 night weekends run from Friday to Monday and 4 night midweek bookings from Monday to Friday. Check in from 4.30pm, check out by 10am. Up to 2 well behaved dogs allowed.

Located close to Byrness Village and under 15 minutes from Otterburn. In the heart of the Northumberland National Park and very near the A68. Very near to the Kielder Forest and the Pennine Way. Hexham is 35 minutes and Newcastle upon Tyne is an hour away.
