Situated in the heart of east Devon, yet close to the city of Exeter, Dartmoor and the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, Cadhay is a country manor house sleeping up to 22 with much to offer everyone.

A stay at Cadhay is a rare and unique experience. To arrive here is to enter into an amazing historic house that has been lived in continuously for centuries. Yet the feel is welcoming, understated and relaxed, a house that offers modern comfort without having been modernized.

With its deep sofas and wood fires, you will quickly unwind and will soon feel entirely comfortable and at home.

Cadhay has been beautifully restored and offers modern comforts: it is a place where you can live comfortably and confidently in the rural Devon countryside, the past all around you, yet still very much in touch with the modern world of today.

Cadhay has 12 bedrooms sleeping up to 22 (9 doubles, 2 twins, 1 single). On the first floor you may choose to sleep in one of the three traditional four-poster beds or a more contemporary version hand-crafted by Cadhay’s owner, furniture-maker Rupert Thistlethwayte. Alternatively you can sleep under the eaves in the newly refurbished attic rooms.There is a bedroom on the ground floor with disabled bathroom facilities alongside.

There is a landline, broadband and mobile signal at Cadhay.

Accessibility

Ground floor: Double or twin bedroom and adjacent shower room suite. Level gardens.

Dog Friendly

Up to 3 well behaved, house trained dogs are welcome. £20 each.

Kitchen

Large fully equipped kitchen with electric oven and AGA. Seating for informal dining for 10. 3 fridges, freezer, pantry, scullery with 2 dishwashers.

Dining Room

For formal dining and special occasions, or a relaxed supper party, there is a magnificent Dining Room seating 22. Outdoor dining in the Courtyard.

Sitting Room

There are four sitting rooms allowing space and flexibility - the library and living hall, with wood burners, the drawing room, and the snug, with TV.

TV and Music Facilities

The Library and snug have TVs as does the sitting room in the Peere Williams suite. There is also a radio and a CD player.

Games Room

There is table tennis equipment set up in the House. Croquet for the garden.

Heating and Open Fires

There is central heating throughout, and wood burning stoves in the Dining Room, Library and Living Hall. Wood is provided.

Bedrooms

Cadhay has 12 bedrooms sleeping up to 22 (9 doubles, 2 twins, 1 single). There are 3 4-poster beds, Cot available.

Linen

White cotton bed linen is provided, as are towels. Please bring your own beach towels. White table linen for the Dining room is available to hire.

Bathrooms

Cadhay has 9 bathrooms, 2 shower-rooms, 1 being on the ground floor and suitable for disabled guests. There are 3 more separate loos.

Children's Facilities

Games room with table tennis, TV/DVD player, extensive gardens and grounds for play - the best hide and seek in Devon!

Outdoor

Lawns, peaceful corners of the garden, around 2 mediaeval stew ponds. Nearby river walks and cycle paths. Barbecue and seating for outdoor dining.

Swimming Pool

There is no swimming pool on site, but Exeter, Honiton, Sidmouth, Exmouth and Topsham (outdoor only) all have pools.

Parking

There is ample parking adjacent to the house.

Smoking

Cadhay is non smoking.

Booking Information

Please refer to our website or contact Jayne for details of latest weekly/weekend rates. Prices range from £63pppn. Minimum 3 night weekend stay starting Friday evening, full weeks if in school holidays, mid-week’s not available. £750 damage deposit that is returned if all is well after your stay.

Location

Cadhay is situated in beautiful East Devon, just off the A30, between Honiton and Exeter and accessible by road, rail or airport.

Cadhay is on the outskirts of Ottery St Mary, and within easy reach, by car of Exeter, Honiton, Lyme Regis, Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton.
Ottery has a variety of independent shops - local butchers,a farm shop, a wine merchant. There are supermarkets locally and others will deliver.
Ottery has a selection of pubs and take away restaurants. Award winning pubs and restaurants in Honiton,Tipton, Rockbeare, Lyme Regis and Exeter.
Exeter Airport is less than 10 miles.
Honiton (SW Trains). Exeter (First Great Western). We can provide you with names of local taxi firms.
A local bus route runs from Ottery.
