Cardfields is an ideal location for all sorts of groups to come and stay. It is perfect for larger groups to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries, but it's also well equipped for special interest groups. The five acres of well-maintained outdoor space makes it perfect for families and activity groups, and you can even pitch up a tent and camp out in the grounds.

The main house provides homely and comfortable facilities and has recently been upgraded with new showers and a comfortable lounge area, and the house has been painted in keeping with the natural surroundings. There are 11 large bedrooms and plenty of beds, so large groups can stay here very comfortably.

There is a well-equipped kitchen for groups to prepare their own meals, or you can opt for full board and have all your meals prepared by our fantastic chefs.

The grounds have been designed for our guests to enjoy a range of activities, with a climbing structure, BMX tracks, floodlit multi-use games area, a football pitch, outdoor table tennis/chess tables, fire pit area, wooded areas, ponds, lawns and picnic areas. It is the perfect place for nature lovers and those that like to be more active. There is also a lovely sunken garden and a flock of chickens that provide our eggs!

Cardfields is very easily accessible, being about 40 minutes on the train from London Liverpool Street station and easy to get to by car or coach. The surrounding area provides plenty of opportunities to get out and about, being in close proximity to Colchester Castle, Colchester Zoo, Southend Sea Life Centre, the River Chelmer, Marsh Farm and Thorndon Country Park.
