A warm welcome to The Castle, a truly exceptional Grade II* castle which is steeped in history and dating back to the early 1700's. Tucked away in the Durham countryside and sitting within 14 acres of land surrounded by a nature reserve, this is the ideal place to escape from the modern world and indulge with friends and family, for holidays, long weekends or reunion get togethers. Whether that be sitting by one of the many fireplaces with a good page turner or retreating to the dungeon for a drink. Furthermore, a hot tub will be available for bookings post 13th September 2021.
Large enough to be stately, small enough to be intimate, walking through the doors of The Castle is to feel relaxed and comfortable within one of England's most unique and beautiful places. On the ground floor is a formal dining room, a wonderful setting for self catered dining and seating up to 32 guests, ideal for a special celebration. The stone reception hall includes an elegant sweeping staircase, and there's a substantial glass palm room to the front of the property. There are 2 further living room spaces allowing guests to spread out, and a well equipped kitchen with everything you need for self catering.
The dungeon at The Castle is fashioned with wrought iron gates, and now hosts multiple social rooms set up as a bar area and spanning the entire footprint of the Castle.
The sleeping quarters are spread over 3 floors and offer 11 beautifully decorated bedrooms sleeping 24, mostly with king size beds, with an additional sofa bed and 7 z-beds for extra guests. One bedroom is on the ground floor, access to which is via a single step. There are 10 bathrooms, most of them en suite. Plenty of room for large groups. All bedding, linen and towels are provided.
The Castle of Castle Eden is located less than 15 minutes outside Durham City, offering a wealth of history and other attractions including a range of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. One of the best parkland golf courses in the North East of England is within a 5 minute drive.
