Chateau Caillac is on the edge of the traditional village of Fongrave in Lot et Garonne. The area is quiet and rural and the Chateau is surrounded by plum orchards and farmers fields. The large gardens are ideal for relaxing or playing games, with 100 metres of riverside frontage and use of the private jetty. There is a small row boat and canoe for you to enjoy the river which is great for fishing too. The river is fenced and the gate can be locked. The Chateau dates from the 1850s when a successful farmer built it to show off his wealth. It is believed that the barn and pigeoniare predate the Chateau and it is rumoured that there is a secret tunnel under the house. The Chateau is ideal for families of mixed generations with something for everyone to enjoy and plenty of space to spend time together or to find a private escape. Guests tell us that the children never want to leave, preferring to spend their days enjoying the pool and the grounds or playing table tennis, football or imaginary games in the tree house. Well maintained, and furnished with a mix of antiques, vintage and contemporary pieces, we aim to stay true to the age and style of the Chateau whilst enabling guests to enjoy the comforts of modern life. Bedrooms are elegant with super comfy beds and most are en suite. Many of the toilets are in the turrets and the baths are indulgent roll tops. We take great pride in our kitchens and try our best to provide everything you need to enjoy the cooking as well as the dining. The Chateau kitchen is designed so that everyone will want to get involved. Should you venture away from the grounds there are plenty of Bastide towns to visit, local markets and in July and August there are night markets too. We have several bikes, including tandems, for exploring the local area. ## Facilities - **WiFi:** There is WiFi in the Chateau communal areas and also at the pool house. - **Accessibility:** The ground floor bedroom and shower room have good access for disabled guests. - **Dog Friendly:** Small well behaved dogs are allowed by prior arrangement only. Please contact me for details. - **Kitchen:** The Chateau kitchen has recently been refurbished and has a large sociable island for collective cooking. It is very well equipped. - **Dining Room:** There is dining in the kitchen and also a more formal dining hall in the Chateau. The terrace and pool house have dining for 18 to sit together. - **Sitting Room:** With plenty of seating on comfy sofas and chairs, the sitting room opens onto the games room with pool table. There is a English satellite TV and DVD. - **TV and Music Facilities:** English satellite TV. DVD player with DVDs for all the family to choose. Bring your own blue tooth speaker to enjoy your own music choices. - **Games Room:** A pool table in the Chateau. Outside there is table tennis and football goal posts. We have a lovely tree house and plenty of games and books. - **Heating and Open Fires:** The Chateau is centrally heated but in the summer you won't need it. We do not allow open fires. - **Bedrooms:** There are seven bedrooms in the Chateau. There is a ground family room, 5 en suite bedrooms on the first floor and one en suite on the second floor. - **Linen:** The beds will be made up on arrival. House towels and pool towels are included. - **Bathrooms:** 6 bedrooms are en suite. The 7th has a shower room very close by. There is also a separate shower and toilet on the ground floor. - **Children's Facilities:** We have one cot plus a further travel cot, and 2 high chairs. If required a gate can be fixed to the kitchen stairs. - **Outdoor:** There is a large south facing terrace that runs the length of the Chateau. There is plenty of dining and lounging space for everyone. - **Swimming Pool:** A large heated pool with covered terrace and summer kitchen.
