## About The Property

There are two things that make Chateau d’Hallines a wonderful place to rent. The first is the chateau itself – built with incredible confidence by a family of very wealthy paper-manufacturers in the 19th century. The second is its location. Being just half an hour’s drive from the Channel Tunnel is a gamechanger for those coming from Britain. Guests don't arrive exhausted from long car journeys or flights – but ready to enjoy themselves in a house that is perfectly set up for them to have a wonderful time together.

Everything is designed for large groups to celebrate special occasions, or for families to holiday in style together. The dining room seats 30 around one enormous table. The two large wood-panelled sitting rooms are ideal for relaxing. The huge kitchen is a fun place to prepare meals, and there are plenty of rooms for having fun: two television rooms, a snooker room, a table-tennis room, even a room with a full-size trampoline. There is a tennis court and an indoor mini-tennis court. The swimming pool is open from May to mid-September.

Our twelve bedrooms are all unique. Nine rooms have double beds, there are two twin rooms - and a large room on the top floor has four single beds, perfect for the younger members of the family. There are eleven bathrooms, ten of which are en suite.

There's plenty to keep everyone entertained at the chateau, but if you decide to venture further afield there's lots to do and see. The village itself offers a bakery and a couple of small cafes, and the charming city of Saint Omer nearby has a beautiful cathedral and lively market - well worth a day out exploring. Plus there are many local historical sites, golf, beaches and glorious countryside.

- **Dog Friendly:** No pets.
- **Accessibility:** The house is not well-suited for the disabled. There is no lift. The reception rooms are on the first floor, and the bedrooms on the second and third.
- **WiFi:** Fibre optic broadband and WiFi.
- **Kitchen:** The kitchen is enormous, with 2 sinks, 2 fridges and 2 dishwashing machines. There is a large range oven.
- **Dining Room:** The wood-panelled dining room has a table that can seat 30 guests.
- **Sitting Room:** The red sitting room has 3 large sofas and an open fire. The grey sitting room has 2 sofas, a table for doing puzzles and a games cupboard.
- **TV and Music Facilities:** Large TV in the library, UK satellite channels and DVD film collection. Another TV room upstairs with Playstation + UK channels. 2 music players.
- **Games Room:** Snooker room with 3/4 size table. Table tennis and table football. Indoor mini-tennis. Trampoline room. Playstation.
- **Heating and Open Fires:** Central heating. Open fireplace with unlimited logs.
- **Bedrooms:** 7 bedrooms with king-size doubles, 1 with a super king-size bed, 1 with a double, 2 with twin beds and a room with 4 single beds. 10 have en suite.
- **Linen:** High quality cotton linen on all beds, and towels provided.
- **Bathrooms:** 11 bathrooms: 10 of them are en suite. All have showers, and 4 also have baths.
- **Children's Facilities:** 2 travel cots, 2 high chairs, 2 chairs for toddlers. TV room on the top floor with children's DVDs. Games cupboard.
- **Outdoor:** Tennis court, garden of 4 hectares with lawns, meadows and woodland. Garden furniture and sunchairs. 8 mountain bikes. Boules and badminton.
- **Swimming Pool:** The swimming pool is in a secluded, sunny spot, just metres from the front door. Open May to mid September.
- **Parking:** Parking within the grounds for many cars.
- **Smoking:** Smoking is not allowed inside the chateau.

The chateau is on the edge of the village of Hallines. It is 30 minutes from the Channel Tunnel and less than 15 minutes from the city of Saint Omer.

### What's Nearby?

- **Location:** Saint Omer is 9 kilometres away. It is a charming city with a cathedral and a large market.
- **Shop:** The village bakery is 400 metres from the chateau. There is a supermarket 4 kilometres away.
- **Food and Drink:** There are two small cafes in the village, both about 600 metres from the chateau.
- **Airport:** Most of our visitors drive to the chateau. The British tend to use the Channel Tunnel. Our nearest airports are Lille, Brussels and Paris.
- **Train:** Those coming by Eurostar should travel to Calais Frethun, which is a 30 minute drive away. Lille station is 70 minutes away.
- **Bus:** There is a bus stop in the village which goes to Saint Omer occasionally.
