## About The Property

Sleeps up to 38 guests with the Chateau, Lodge and Cottage

The properties are available individually, or together for larger groups.

The Chateau du Val provides a unique and magnificent venue for celebrations, weddings, company events with a dance room and marquee also available. The Château dining areas are only used for catered meals.

The chateau is neogothic, refurbished but with many original features retained, and offers 8 bedrooms, large elegant salons and panelled dining room.

The 6 bedroomed Lodge is a very spacious converted carriage house in the grounds of the chateau, full of character but with all luxuries associated with modern living. The large open plan living area combines a fully equipped kitchen. The dining room leads out to a private walled garden, games area and barbecue. Fully equipped for self catering guests.

The cottage with 3 bedrooms is an ideal addition and suits guests who may need space away from the activities.

Château du Val boasts a private forest (300 acres), lake, and within the gardens a  swimming pool that can be covered (open April-November), and tennis court.

There is plenty of space inside and out making Chateau du Val ideal for families holidaying together, reunions and groups who want to enjoy activities such as golf, walking and painting. We also love to host activities such as treasure hunts, wine tasting, cookery classes.

Chateau du Val benefits from the sunnier warmer climate of south Brittany and the exceptionally mild winters allow mimosa and palm trees to flourish. The area is renowned for its flora and fauna, and Saint Just is the home of the second largest megalithic site in France. Nearby activities include golfing, horse riding, canoeing and kayaking. In close proximity are a number of pretty villages and castles to visit. The beaches of Damgan and Penetin are famous for sea food and great for families and La Baule offers a more lively atmosphere.

## Facilities

- **Dog Friendly:** Pets are welcome on request. The estate is a haven for dogs. We can also arrange the necessary veterinary appointment for returning to the UK.
- **Accessibility:** We regularly have guests who use wheelchairs staying at the Lodge - the whole living area and 2 bedrooms are on the ground floor with no steps.
- **WiFi:** There is not a fixed phone but we do have free internet access.
- **Kitchen:** The kitchens in the Lodge and Chateau are fully equipped, both have dining tables (ideal for breakfasts or children's suppers).
- **Dining Room:** Very large dining rooms able to seat 22 in the Chateau and 17 in the Lodge. Extra tables can be added to the Chateau dining room to seat 35.
- **Sitting Room:** The Chateau has a winter sitting room with log fire and summer salon opening onto the terrace. The Lodge has a wood burner and comfy sofas.
- **TV and Music Facilities:** TV, DVD and CD player are all provided. We also have books, board games and if you fancy a murder mystery we have a number of sets to choose from.
- **Games Room:** Our guests have full use of a table tennis room equipped with bats and balls.
- **Heating and Open Fires:** Full central heating in the Chateau and Lodge. The Chateau has open fires and Lodge a wood burner. Fire wood is provided.
- **Bedrooms:** The Chateau has 8 double bedrooms. The Lodge has 6 bedrooms all with double beds; 3 also have a single and 1 has 2 singles and double sofa bed.
- **Linen:** Bed linen and towels are provided. We also have beach towels. For guests staying more than a week all the linen is changed at the end of the week.
- **Bathrooms:** The Chateau has 3 en suite bathroom and 3 shared bathrooms. The Lodge has 5 bathrooms, 4 en suite. Four bathrooms have showers and one a bath.
- **Children's Facilities:** The Lodge has 3 cots available, high chair, as well as toys, books, a huge enclosed play area, tennis and table tennis room. The pool is enclosed.
- **Outdoor:** The great outdoor facilities include private walled garden with BBQ, garden furniture, all weather tennis court, heated pool & marked forest trail.
- **Swimming Pool:** The 15m enclosed heated pool can be covered to extend the season April to Oct. The shallow steps to enter and ledge make it ideal for young children.
- **Parking:** There is plenty of parking space in the courtyard at The Lodge or in the gravelled area by the Chateau.
- **Smoking:** Smoking is not permitted in the Chateau and Lodge but guests are welcome to smoke outside. We also discourage smoking and forbid fires in the wood.

The Chateau and Lodge are surrounded by a protected nature park, renowned for its beauty. Nearby are typical Brittany villages and the coast is within easy reach.

### What's Nearby?

- **Location:** The nearest large town with all the services is Redon (13km), we are also only 40km from the capital of Brittany - Rennes - with its parliament & museum.
- **Shop:** The nearest grocery store in the village (4km) Saint Just, (open 7 days) and bakery which will deliver to the Lodge. A well stocked supermarket is 8km away.
- **Food and Drink:** There is a bar and restaurant in the village, and in the village of La Gacilly (15 mins), you will find a variety of restaurants and creperies.
- **Airport:** The airport at Rennes is only a 30 minute drive away and Nantes is also easily accessible (a 90 minute drive).
- **Train:** The nearest station is at Redon which is linked to the TGV from Paris.
- **Bus:** Buses are not very regular, but we can always pick you up from the station, airport or organise a car.
