## About The Property

Dating back to early 1200s, the large Marouatte 270 acre estate boasts a luxurious ambiance richly decorated to give a cozy home atmosphere while feeding the eyes with stained glass, antique furniture, paintings, intricate wood and stone work, painted ceilings, but also offering modern conveniences.

Chateau Marouatte is ideal for a large family holiday or several families joining together. Exclusive use is given to one party at a time so as to maintain a private atmosphere. The chateau is self catering but local chefs, as well as cleaners and yoga teachers, can be hired easily. There are many walking and jogging paths within the grounds.

Workshops take place at the chateau, ranging from plein-air painting, photography and cooking - please get in touch for details.

The castle guardian couple lives on site at the far end of the outer castle and are on hand to help when needed.

The nearest city is Perigueux, with excellent shopping and markets, a medieval pedestrian area, magnificent cathedral, Roman ruins and great restaurants. Brantome, 20 minutes away, has several highly rated Michelin star restaurants and is noted as one of the most beautiful towns in France, known as the Venice of the Perigord. The river Dronne is only one kilometre away and all along it are canoe rental sites and fishing opportunities. Bourdeilles castle is 8 minutes away and many other castles are within an hours drive. Grotte de Villars with its impressive stalactites and stalagmites as well as 20,000 year old cave paintings is only a 45 minute drive from the castle and well worth the trip. All in all, plenty to see and do.

## Facilities

- **WiFi:** Internet throughout the property. Mobile reception, but in some areas not great. Land line in office available upon request.
- **Accessibility:** No facilities for disabled guests.
- **Dog Friendly:** Will consider depending on pet and size.
- **Kitchen:** Professional cooker, with all necessary utensils, cutlery, plates, glasses as required. A second larger kitchen is also available.
- **Dining Room:** The inner castle gothic dining room seats 16 plus a kids table. Outside seating area seating 26. Outer bailey Troubadour ballroom seats 26.
- **Sitting Room:** Large sitting room or "salle d'honeur" seats comfortably 26 or more. There is also a library den sitting area next to the kitchen and dining room.
- **TV and Music Facilities:** TV in the Games Room on ground floor below the salle d'honeur. Musical equipment (guitars, mics, speakers) available. Stereo system available.
- **Games Room:** Beautiful games room, antique tile floors, wood paneling, painted ceiling, large pool table, table football, TV, chess board.
- **Heating and Open Fires:** Troubadour ballroom and main living room have large open fireplaces. Main inner castle is centrally heated. Outer castle has electric or gas heaters.
- **Bedrooms:** 14 bedrooms, most are king size or queen size beds including 4 posters. 6 single roll away beds available.
- **Linen:** Linen (sheets, pillow cases, blankets, towels both hand and shower) supplied, beds are made at beginning of rental.
- **Bathrooms:** 12 bathrooms, of which 4 are shower only and 8 shower/bathtub. 9 are en suite.
- **Children's Facilities:** Pool toys, table tennis, balls.
- **Outdoor:** Swimming pool and loungers, tennis court, large playing fields, badminton, table tennis.
- **Swimming Pool:** Private heated swimming pool, 14 lounge chairs.
- **Parking:** Plenty of parking available.
- **Smoking:** No smoking indoors please.
