Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. The Coach House, Durhamhill, Castle Douglas, Scotland, sleeps 2 - 14 in 6 bedrooms.

Specially designed for large groups, with entertainment for any weather, this recent conversion is welcoming and comfortable with 6 bedrooms and 6 bath/shower rooms. A massive oak table seats up to 16 people, with 2 open plan kitchen/sitting rooms with blazing woodburners. Outdoors are 2 stone barbecues, a large table, and a giant stone horseshoe seat with views to the hills.

The house sleeps 12 people, or max 16 by using two guest beds (2'6 wide) when a sliding partition is opened between the twin and bunk room (whole new room sleeps 6, limited floor space) and 2 sofa beds are used in the open-plan sitting room/kitchens. The bunks are sturdy and fine for adults.

The games room, in another building, has table football, small air hockey, chess, pool and table tennis. With its own glowing woodburner, it converts to a cosy mini-cinema. Surround sound in the cinema and for fims in the house adds to the luxury.

Another building has washing and drying facilities and storage for bicycles.

Guests can be met to explain the foibles of the house and then left in complete peace or can enjoy activities next door such as llama feeding/walking, collecting eggs and picking fruit and vegetables in season. Alan offers motorcycle sidecar trips to anyone enthusiastic (also drum/guitar sessions). Attractions include The Chocolate Factory, Mabie Farm Park, Cream O' Galloway ice cream makers and the many beaches (40 mins drive away) and castles. The garden has some steep slopes and drops so supervision of young children is needed.

Explore Galloway's stunning countryside, still relatively undiscovered by tourists - hills, lochs, rivers, woodland & stunning coastline. Watch wildlife, including red squirrels, otters, deer and red kites. Seek out Henry Moore statues on the Glenkiln Statue trail. Try out the famous 7-stanes mountain bike trails, or a hilarious new sport at Loch Ken Activity Centre.

Castle Douglas, 5 miles away, The Food Town has many small shops and supermarket. Local pubs serve good food

Two well-equipped open plan kitchen/seating areas (the house can be divided into 2 separate units). Each has a fridge-freezer and dishwasher.

The two open plan kitchen/dining/seating areas provide oak dining tables for 6(+2) and 14(+2).

Sitting Room

2 open plan areas with woodburners. Seats 8 one side and 6 in the other (plus beanbags and dining seats for all in 1 room). Games room seats everyone.

TV and Music Facilities

2 flat screen TVs with surround sound, DVD players. Radio/alarm clock and iPod docking stations in bedrooms. Mini cinema in separate games room.

Games Room

Separate building with table football, table tennis, small air hockey, pool, chess. Converts to mini cinema. Kitchenette, shower room and wood burner.

Heating and Open Fires

Air heat exchange system with underfloor heating. Two wood burners in house. Wood burner/electric heater in games room/cinema. Heated clothes rail.

Bedrooms

1 king-size e/s, 1 double e/s, 1 twin/zip and link e/s, 1 small double (4ft), 1 bunk room (sturdy 3ft beds), 1 twin with 2 guest beds, 2 sofabeds.

There are 6 in total, as follows:- 2 en suite shower rooms, 1 en suite wet room (king size bedroom), 2 shared bathrooms, one shared shower room.

We do not have a swimming pool but there are several great beaches within 30-40 minutes drive.

There is a long private drive and ample private parking space around the property. Room for minibus. Shed for bicycles.

Smoking

Strictly outside only. House is available for multi chemical sensitivity sufferers, so use of chemicals is restricted as much as possible.

Booking Information

Click on our website link for prices or to make a booking. Short breaks – we often offer a free night – enquire with owner. For full week bookings in main school holidays, changeover day is generally Friday. At other times, it’s Monday to Friday. Refundable damage/housekeeping deposit is £100.
