North Devon's stunning surfing beaches, including Croyde, Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Putsborough, are all just a short drive (or spectacular walks) from Crowborough Farmhouse. This is a fabulous base from which to explore the coast, the lovely Taw/Torridge estuary, nearby Exmoor; or just to relax in this beautiful home, with ample room for an extended family.
The ground floor is spacious and open-plan, perfect for bringing everyone together. The fully equipped kitchen, large dining table and comfortably furnished sitting room, share a generous, light and welcoming space. A unique double-sided wood burner opens to a second living room, somewhere cosy to set up board games or read a book from the well stocked library. Double French windows open to the peaceful garden for relaxing in the sun, or al-fresco dining.
The garden, in common with all the main living rooms and bedrooms, offers tantalising views down through a quiet wooded valley. Early in the morning Roe deer occasionally wander into view, in the evening Tawny Owls hoot. Hidden in the trees is a magical old quarry.
The bedrooms provide a flexible combination of twins and doubles. The family room boasts a gorgeous 4 poster double, twin singles, and an indulgent en suite with freestanding bath. All other rooms offer colourful and stylish comfort. A ground floor bedroom is available to those who might not wish to use stairs. Shared bathrooms on all floors complement two ground floor showers and utility room, for washing off the sand after a day at the beach.
Guests at Crowborough Farm are encouraged to explore the 50 acres of private organic coastal flower meadows, and newly planted woodland, overlooking expansive views of the sea and Lundy island. A small stream gently makes its way down the valley.
Crowborough Farm is on the edge of the village of Georgeham, within a few minutes walk of the convenient village shop, and two excellent pubs, both with a fine reputation for their award-winning food and local atmosphere.
The farm is licensed for civil ceremonies and is perfect for rustic/festival style weddings in this area of outstanding natural beauty.
