Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. Dalmigavie, Tomatin, Inverness-shire, Scotland, sleeps 6 - 20 in 10 bedrooms.

Dalmigavie offers a spectacular setting for a holiday or get together with friends, with numerous activities and games in the house and on the surrounding estate, plus attractions aplenty within easy reach.

Situated beside the river Findhorn, Dalmigavie sleeps 10 to 20 people. The house features a large sitting room and library, each with open fires, a dining room, kitchen with Aga and twin dishwashers, cloakroom, utility room and a drying room. There are 8 bedrooms in the main house, with a further 2 bedrooms in the adjacent annex - an ideal set-up for multi-generational groups.

Dalmigavie house is surrounded by 6,000 acres of its own wild mountains and moorland….. woodland, rushing streams, and 4 miles of the Findhorn river:
• Abundant wildlife, red deer, roe deer, wild goats, elusive pine martens, wildcats and otters
• Birds of prey, from the tiny Merlin to the huge Sea Eagle, almost every British bird of prey can be seen at Dalmigavie
• In spring and summer, nesting curlews, lapwing, oyster-catchers and many other birds
• Clay pigeon shooting
• Trout fishing on a small stocked lochan
• Walking, with 9 miles of tracks through the estate
• A remote mountain hut, 2.5 hours walk away
• The option of a day at Dalmigavie exploring the habitat of the Highlands with a naturalist
• 6 mountain bikes for use by guests
• A new tennis court
• A croquet lawn (not the finest!)
• And remoteness and solitude
Salmon fishing on the river Findhorn and deer stalking may be available by separate arrangement.

In the surrounding area, all within an hour’s drive:
• Many golf courses, from championship courses at Castle Stuart and Nairn to the delightful 9 hole course at Carrbridge, only 20 minutes away
• Aviemore and the Cairngorm Mountains National Park
• Inverness and Loch Ness (+/- monster…)
• Sandy beaches along the Moray Firth Coast
• Dolphin watching boat trips in the Moray Firth itself
• Centuries of Highland history at Cawdor Castle, Fort George, Culloden battlefield
• Tomatin whisky distillery, Speyside whisky tours
• The Landmark Centre at Carrbridge, beloved by all children
• Craggan Outdoor visitor centre at Grantown-on-Spey

Facilities

Dog Friendly

Dogs welcome, but not upstairs. In bird nesting months, April to July, close control please. Kennels available.

Disabled Facilities

The Annex has a ramp and wide doorways for wheelchair use. (The bathroom has a bath but not a walk-in shower).

WiFi

There are 2 separate WiFi systems and a landline. Mobile reception is limited.

Kitchen

Oil Aga, electric cooker, 2 washing machines, 2 fridges, deep freeze. A large well-equipped kitchen with separate larder.

Dining Room

A traditional dining room with 2 tables, one for at least 12, the other in the bay window for 8. Family portraits on the walls.

Sitting Room

A sitting room and a library each with an open fire. Room for over 20 people. 2 card tables, lots of books, games and puzzles.

TV and Music Facilities

There is high speed fibre broadband and a TV screen is available.

Games Room

There is no separate games room, but games aplenty in the sitting room and library.

Heating and Open Fires

Oil fired heating throughout. 2 open fires (in the sitting room and library) and a big wood-stove in the hall to heat the centre of the house.

Bedrooms

4 big doubles, 3 twins and a pair of bunks in the main house. Each with a basin. 2 twins in the attached Annex.

Linen

All linen and towels provided. No extra cost.

Bathrooms

2 bath/shower rooms, 1 bath room and 1 shower room in the main house. 1 bathroom in the Annex. A total of five.

Children's Facilities

There is a cot and high chair. If more are needed, please ask.

Outdoor

There is a new tennis court and large lawns with a croquet set. Barbecue if wanted. 6 mountain bikes, 9 miles of hill tracks. Fishing can be arranged.

Swimming Pool

4 miles of chilly river Findhorn, and many more miles of tumbling burns!

Parking

Ample parking available.

Smoking

No smoking in the house please.

Booking Information

25% of rental is due on booking, the remaining 75% and the deposit 6 weeks before your visit.

The 25% deposit is not returnable unless the rental is cancelled 6 months or more in advance.
Returnable damage deposit of £750.
Changeover day is Sunday.
The housekeeper, Lorna, comes in for an hour each day to do fires, logs, downstairs tidying. If you would like more than that, please ask.

Location

Dalmigavie is in a remote glen among empty hills. Accessed over our own bridge from a dead end single track road. Inverness and the Moray Firth are 40 mins away, the airport 40, Aviemore 30.

  • Inverness and Aviemore are 30 and 40 minutes away respectively and have all necessary services. Tomatin (10 mins) has its own community shop.
  • The Tomatin Community Shop... 10 minutes away.
  • There are a number of restaurants in Inverness, Aviemore and Carrbridge, all 25 to 40 minutes or less away.
  • Inverness (Dalcross), 40 minutes away.
  • Carrbridge 25 minutes, Aviemore 30 minutes, or Inverness 40 minutes.
  • Tomatin has a bus stop, 10-15 minutes away.
