Darwin Lake is a private, beautifully maintained event and holiday village in Darwin Forest with the National Park on the doorstep. Ideal for group events with activities and accommodating up to 127 overnight guests. 17 crafted stone houses are centred around a stunning lake with woodland walks and a village green. Families, friends, corporate groups, hens and stags are all welcome and can take a combination of cottages to suit their needs.
Darwin Hall is a wonderful events space for groups, family celebrations, corporate events, retreats and weddings. The ground floor is perfect for dancing, wedding receptions or parties. The first floor has a kitchen and meeting space for up to 150 guests. Catering options and a bar are available for special occasions.
The Haven is a newly developed event space for smaller groups to meet, socialise and party! It has space for a group of 30 where tables, sofas, a kitchen and toilet facilities are available. Dovedale property has a large open plan living area for similar group numbers.
All cottages are well equipped with modern appliances, contemporary sofas, feature fires and Smart TVs. Dovedale has dining capacity for 16 guests (more can be arranged). Bedrooms are all very comfortable, configured as kings, doubles and twins using zip/link beds.
Darwin Lake offers a range of on-site activities - try raft building or canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding on the lake, archery or bushcraft in the woods, or tackle the climbing wall. Guests can use the complimentary rowing boat or fish on the lake, free of charge. Add Spa and Beauty treatments, hot tubs and other activities such as cocktail making, mega assault courses and mega slides.
This is a tranquil place to spend a few days enjoying the lake and indigenous wildlife, with many wonderful walking and cycling trails nearby. Darwin Lake is an ideal base from which to explore the Peak District, Matlock Farm Park is close by, there's also Gulliver’s Kingdom in Matlock for the children in the group. Carsington Water is nearby for watersports and outdoor pursuits. Alton Towers can be reached in under an hour, or visit Chatsworth House, one of the best-preserved stately homes in Britain. The Blue John Cavern and The Heights of Abraham Cable Cars are worth a visit. Explore caving, potholing, mountain biking and abseiling and many more attractions in the National Park, all can be organised by Darwin Lake.
