The Dean Field Studies Centre, Parkend, Forest of Dean, sleeps 18-85 in 22 bedrooms.

Located in the village of Parkend, in the beautiful Forest of Dean, The Dean Field Studies Centre sleeps up to 85. A great place for a family celebration or group outdoor activities holiday. Available for weekends and school holidays.

Accommodation is on 4 different floor areas with bathrooms for each area. There are 22 bunkrooms with an average of 4 sleeping places each, ranging from twins to an 8 bunk room. A separate ground floor room can be converted by arrangement for disabled accommodation and features an en suite bathroom and hoist.

There is free WiFi throughout the building.

A large lounge on the first floor has an attached kitchenette for making drinks and also has a data projector that can be used. A separate Games Room features 2 toll-free arcade style table football and air hockey, plus table tennis and a bowling machine.

A self-catering kitchen is fully equipped to cater for groups of 40 and is included in the price along with the dining room that can seat up to 70. An additional 15 diners can eat in a separate room if split dining times are not more desirable. For larger groups of up to 85 people you may want to also hire our main centre kitchen at additional cost and deposit with the requirement of using a professional caterer. We can also cater for you.

There are 2 good pubs in the village which are close by and offer good food and traditional ales.

There are lots of nearby outdoor activities that we can provide for you or give you information about. We have our own High Challenge Course with climbing tower and zip wire for which we can provide instructors and there is also a tunnel system that can be hired out for self use. The village has a cycle hire shop and we are very close to the family cycle trail and other mountain biking trails. A steam train (The Dean Heritage Railway) stops at the station a few metres away.

The separate garden and associated Dean Garden Room can be hired and provides seating for 60 cabaret style and 90 theatre style - this has been used for wedding receptions and celebrations many times. It has its own kitchen. A barbecue and campfire area can be used with outside seating and lighting.

Ideal location for children. Ask about instructed adventurous activities e.g. climbing wall, zip and hiring self-led activities such as the Tunnels.
We are an outdoor centre with many options available including climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, forest walks and bird watching.
There is no pool. Public facilities are available at Lydney a few miles away.
Private car parking opposite with room for coach or 20 cars. Free roadside parking nearby.
Absolutely no smoking inside the building.
Registered assistance dogs only by prior arrangement.


Situated in the small village of Parkend in the Forest of Dean. Immediate access to great walking, cycling and a range of other outdoor activities. Good road and rail links.
The towns of Lydney, Cinderford and Coleford are all within 5 miles, with Chepstow and Monmouth 10 miles away. Gloucester is a 35 min drive and Bristol 45 mins.

Booking Information

Rental prices from £13 per person per night based on a minimum of 18 people. A 10% Hirers Liability Insurance policy is taken out on your behalf with Zurich Municipal. Accommodation available from 2pm on Fridays until 7pm Sunday on w/e's. School holiday weeks also available - see calendar.
