Dinefwr Bunkhouse, Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, sleeps 12-16 in 4 bedrooms.
Originally part of the female servants living quarters at Newton House on the National Trust’s Dinefwr Estate, this well equipped, 16-bed stylish bunkhouse is full of character. Sat above the old kitchens within the courtyard, the bunkhouse comes complete with open plan kitchen, sitting and dining area, exposed beams, stone walls and a cosy wood burning stove.
There are commanding views of Dinefwr Castle and the estate’s seventeenth-century deer park – designed by ‘Capability’ Brown. Steeped in over 2000 years of history, Dinewfr Castle has been an important stronghold in Wales from Roman times through to the legendary Lord Rhys, at a time when Dinefwr was the capital of Deheubarth. There is plenty to do here, including guided tours of the house and estate, conservation talks and tractor tours with the ranger across the park’s National Nature Reserve.
The pretty market town of Llandeilo is a mile’s walk from the bunkhouse; and you’re right on the doorstep to the Brecon Beacons National Park. Catering for all ages and a variety of pastimes, Carmarthenshire is the perfect holiday destination.
