Perfectly positioned on the footpath to the Old Man of Coniston and Levers Water, and on the foothills of the crags behind, these terraced cottages are well situated for walkers, bikers and explorers keen to get straight onto the fells. Number 1 Dixon Ground is the largest of the properties situated at the end of terrace. The house is large enough for 10 but if you have a bigger group, you could also take over Number 2 Dixon Ground next door and/or Numbers 3 and 4 Dixon Ground next door again. Taking all 4 cottages together provides accommodation for up 24 guests across 11 bedrooms. Ideal for those big family get-togethers and celebrations. Though centrally located, with a pub within rolling distance, the Dixon Ground Cottages are pleasantly peaceful. With so many rooms, best suited to home large groups - of friends, extended families, walkers or just big get-togethers! Coniston is simply an excellent base for any Lake District holiday. There's incredible walking straight from the village centre, including the iconic Coniston Old Man. The village enjoys ample access to Coniston Water lake shore, with Coniston Boating Centre offering paddle-boarding, kayaking, sailing and more. Plenty of opportunities for wild-swimming include the lake, beautiful mountain tarns and the picturesque Church Beck river with stunning waterfalls and deep, crystal clear pools. Spectacular off-road mountain biking trails at nearby Grizedale Forest, as well as stunning road routes through some of the country’s most beautiful scenery. For a quieter pace, The Ruskin Museum, which depicts the fascinating history of the area including the famous water speed record attempt of Donald Campbell, is a must visit.
