Room 1 is at the top of the house, it has a double bed, 2 singles and 2 trundle beds. There is an en-suite wetroom, windows overlook the beach.
Room 2 is a mirror of room 1. Both have a double bed, 2 full size single beds and 2 trundle beds. The single beds can be made into sofas if you prefer to have a lounge space in the room.

Room 3 has a double bed and a high loft bed (access available at adult discretion). It has an en-suite wetroom and windows overlooking the beach.

Downhill Beachhouse, aka Glenhassan Hall, looks directly onto the famous Downhill Beach bordering the National Trust's Downhill Demense Estate and Mussenden Temple near the Giant's Causeway Northern Ireland. The property has been sensitively restored with Victorian architectural detail, heritage interiors and original fireplaces.

The property has 7 bedrooms all with private bathrooms, free WiFi and free internet terminal, reading nook, living and dining rooms with working original fireplaces, modern kitchen and utility rooms. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming especially suited to enjoying the beach in summer and cosy warmth in the winter.

The house is decorated throughout with local and original art work. The Beachhouse is owned by a professional potter with a working ceramics studio on-site. Art classes can be facilitated for groups covering a range of topics from fun and friendly pottery painting, traditional craft sessions in paper-making, mosaics or pottery techniques, and adventurous workshops in Raku ceramics or paper-clay sculpture.

Children are welcome, facilities for young guests include, high chairs, travel cots, walkers, baby monitor, books and toys.

With our blue-flag beach on the doorstep water sports are popular with guests. The waves are good for beginning surfers, body boarders, and swimmers of all ages. We rent wetsuits, body boards, surfboards and arrange surf lessons and coasteering outings for guests.

The front lawn is equipped with picnic tables and suitable for barbecues and outdoor games.

Downhill Beachhouse is situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Causeway Coastal Route near the Giant's Causeway (UNESCO World Heritage Site). The villa's property fronts on to the Downhill beach entrance and backs onto a National Trust Estate.

  • Castlerock is our nearest village, 3km away. Coleraine is a large town 10 minutes drive from Downhill.
  • 3 km towards village of Castlerock.
  • In nearby Castlerock village there are 2 pubs, one serving food, fish & chips, a tea room, bakery, and gourmet cafe serving local produce.
