With good road transport links and close proximity to the beautiful Welsh coast and vibrant city of Cardiff, this is an excellent choice for 3 generation families and groups of friends to meet up for a holiday or birthday celebration. Duffryn Mawr is in a lovely rural location near the pretty villages of Peterston Super Ely and Pendoylan, within walking distance across fields.
The Loft is the perfect option for a family and overlooks the Secret Garden, a magical fairy lit spot for shared barbecues and evenings where you can cosy up to the firepit. Kingfisher Cottage is again good for a family and Swallow Cottage has the option of an extra twin in Swallows Nest. The Hideaway Shepherd's Hut is perfect for couples, enjoying its own deck, wood burner, en suite and hotel standard bed linen for added luxury. Duffryn Mawr works well for a mixed age range with different accommodation preferences.
Inside living is warm and comfortable with everything needed for a self catered stay. Outside each property there are tables and chairs to enjoy al fresco meals on a south facing patio or a glass of wine after dark. Or if everyone wants to get together, head to the Secret Garden for a barbecue and toasted marshmallows.
Bedrooms are set up as doubles or twins, pretty rooms with attractive decor and soft furnishings. Ground floor rooms mean that anyone who doesn't want to do stairs is well catered for. There are shared bathrooms across the 3 cottages and an en suite in The Hideaway.
This section of the Welsh coast offers a number of fabulous beaches for family days out, including Barry or Porthcawl. Cardiff is a fascinating city with a gorgeous castle and the best of museums including the Welsh Folk Museum in St Fagans. Cardiff Bay is a bustling area with lots of bars and restaurants, the Millennium Centre and the Norwegian Church. Cowbridge is a special market town, full of independent shops and places for a lunch stop.
