Built on the footprint of the original farmhouse, this newly constructed handsome country house is a real stroke of genius, architecturally designed in the spirit of the Georgian era with stunning period features. Duredon is a truly grand design yet still feels like a home, comfortable and warm with none of the drafty corners sometimes associated with large country houses. Multi generational family groups, friends, walkers, cyclists and small corporate groups will find that Duredon offers a beautiful base for a get together, and the house and estate are also perfect for photo shoots and as a film location.

Arriving at Duredon feels very special, with the approach crossing Exmoor and providing spectacular country views. The drawing room has a welcoming open fire, high ceilings and opulent jewel toned velvet sofas - perfect at any time of day for sitting back and enjoying Exmoor through large period style sash windows. The formal dining table is made for catching up over long family dinners, cooked in the kitchen or created by outside caterers for a birthday feast. No corner is wasted at Duredon, with welcoming wing back chairs in Georgian style arched corridors between rooms, for a quiet chat or to read a book. Pretty gardens surround Duredon and there is an outside seating area ideal for barbecues and al fresco dining next to a large lawn for the kids to enjoy.

All of the 9 bedrooms are individually designed, some with romantic 4 posters and all with elegant soft furnishings and occasional furniture. The stay is made even more comfortable by en suites with deep baths and oodles of hot water. No creaky pipes here. The 3 bedrooms in the converted stable block offer options for any guests wanting extra privacy - ideal for young families or grandparents in a multi generational group. Duredon sleeps 16 in total comfort, with an extra room available if you wish to bring a cook or au pair.

There are many footpaths to follow from the door at Duredon and around the wider estate, with some of the best hiking, cycling, shooting and wild swimming in the south west.
