This stunning church has been transformed to provide a holiday house in Strathaven offering complete luxury accommodation for 19 guests. Friends and multi generation families may also choose East Church House for celebrating a really memorable special occasion. Please note - this is not a party venue.
Original stained glass windows and a renovated altar sit side by side with modern features to create spacious open plan living with every imaginable modern convenience. In the centre of Strathaven, there are lovely park and river views as well as plenty of pubs, restaurants and coffee shops on the doorstep. Also a great location for those travelling from different parts of Scotland with excellent transport links.
The main entrance hall is on the middle floor, with 2 impressive staircases and lots of artwork on display from the John Hastie Museum Trust. This is the centrepoint of the church and where all the fun happens. The sociable kitchen is well set up for self catering and the dining table for 20 perfect for everyone to sit down for a meal together. The lounge has soft velvet sofas for 14, next to a log stove, just the place for after dinner chat or watching a film. There are 2 other seating areas for those wanting a bit of privacy or perhaps to play cards. The ground floor is popular with the youngsters for a game of pool and to chill out in their own space. A lift is located behind the fireplace in the lounge for anyone less mobile.
Bedrooms are all opulent. The John Hastie Master suite on the top floor has incredible arched windows looking out onto the street. It also has a French 4 poster bed and stylish soft furnishings as well as a private balcony overlooking the lounge below. The combination of superkings, twins and a triple is very convenient for mixed age groups, as are the ground floor bedrooms. Freestanding baths in bathrooms.
Attractions to explore in Strathaven include the castle or parks with a boating pond, miniature railway or a putting green. The David Livingstone centre is within easy reach, worth a visit. Glasgow is great for shopping and its world class science centre, as well as a wealth of bars and restaurants.
