A Legacy of Famous Guests The walls of Eastwood House hold nearly two centuries of stories. The house has hosted legendary actress Lillie Langtry, the celebrated artist Sir John Everett Millais, and former Prime Ministers David Lloyd George, Stanley Baldwin and Winston Churchill. It was also a favoured Highland retreat for the Royal Family. Most notably, the estate’s nine acres of gardens were the childhood summer playground of Beatrix Potter. It was here at Eastwood House in 1893 that she wrote her most famous work, "The Tale of Peter Rabbit", finding inspiration in the very wildlife you can see from the windows today.
