Edgmond Hall Centre for Outdoor Learning, Newport, Shropshire

Sleeps 12 - 69 11 Bedrooms 48 Dining

Exclusive use outdoor centre and cottage sleeping 69 for youth trips with activity programmes near the Shropshire Hills

Outdoor activity centre for youth, corporate and other groups

Edgmond Hall Centre for Outdoor Learning specialises in providing creative outdoor learning experiences for children. Most groups are schools of primary and lower secondary age; the centre is also ideal for Scouting movement, Girls’ and Boys’ Brigade, and other youth groups. Staff enjoy working closely with group leaders to plan and deliver memorable programmes in a welcoming and caring setting. A wide range of outdoor and creative activities are available on and off-site.

The main centre provides a comfortable base and promotes a family atmosphere for groups. Only one group at a time is accommodated. 4 dormitories, with separate floors and bathrooms for boys and girls, are close to the 3 staff bedrooms. A large dining room is great for communal meals, and there is a separate staff room. There is a group room in the main house. Most groups enjoy fully catered and tutored courses, but can choose to self-cater and programme at certain times of the year.

The courtyard houses a games room, large group room (previously the barn), 2 smaller group rooms, and additional toilets.

Extensive grounds contain many options for outdoor adventure, learning, exercise, play and recreation, as well as picnics and outdoor eating. A few pet animals are kept on site, which children can help to feed if with a member of centre staff.

The cottage sleeps 12 people in 4 bedrooms, and can be hired separately from, or as well as, the main centre. If separate, it has a kitchen, and lounge/diner for 12, and a private garden (access to the wider grounds only by arrangement). The downstairs is fully wheelchair accessible. It is ideal for smaller groups who want their own space and base. Activities can be arranged.

All buildings are maintained to a high standard by Sandwell Council.

Experienced outdoor instructors are available to lead activities – ask for programme ideas and costs. If working with centre staff, a minibus is available for visits off-site.
