Egerton House, Newmarket, Suffolk, sleeps 10-20 in 10 bedrooms.
The corridors creak with racing history at Egerton Stud. Egerton House is The Main House of Egerton House Stables, located in Newmarket, home of horse racing. In the mid-19th century, it was first leased to royal trainer Richard Marsh, and has been the home of many champions and stallions, such as Persimmon, owned by the Prince of Wales. The Prince of Wales was a regular guest at Egerton, as was his friend, Lily Langtry, who owned a successful racing stable nearby. In 1925, the estate was sold to Henry Lascelles, the 6th Earl of Harewood, who was married to Princess Mary, daughter of King George V.
Egerton Stud was built in 1891 and is set in a beautiful, private and secluded location surrounded by gallops. This private house is conveniently located minutes away from the July Course and is the ideal location for many occasions such as race meetings, sales, bloodstock events, corporate events or general entertaining. It is also a 20 minutes drive from Cambridge, or 1h30 drive from London. The nearest stations are Newmarket (10 minutes drive) or Cambridge Station (20 minutes), 50 minutes direct from Kings Cross.
Other services include parking facilities, full catering on request (lunch or supper), transportation, wine cellar and waitering.
In 2015 the house was completely restored, it now has a total of 10 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. Eight en suite double bedrooms with a further two double bedrooms with private bathrooms. Enjoy evenings by the fire in the comfortable sitting rooms or have a game of snooker on the full size billiard table. The kitchen is fully equipped, the dining table can sit 20 people, or you can use the kitchen table which can seat 12 people.
The house has a large garden overlooking stud paddocks and lots of parking for you and your guests. With the historic university town of Cambridge just 15 minutes away by car, and Newmarket racecourse hosting many race meetings throughout the year, there is a great choice of things to do.
