Epchris House is a large seaside self catering holiday house in Ilfracombe which sleeps 12 in a total of 6 rooms, all of which are en suite barring one twin room which has a private bathroom across the hallway. Set in a lovely peaceful location, yet close to Ilfracombe sea front and harbour, the house retains lots of original features and has far-reaching views.

Guests can enjoy nearly 2 acres of stunning communal gardens, a large sun terrace and barbecue area exclusively for guest use, a communal children's outdoor play area (shared with the owners), plus a generous-sized kitchen/dining room to seat 12 and a large lounge/bar/games room.

Epchris House is set in the tranquil Wilder Valley, but only a 5 minute walk to the South West Coast Path or Tunnels Beaches, 10 minutes to the sea front and on from there to Ilfracombe Harbour and the famous eateries of St James' Place and Fore Street. Within a 15 minute drive is the award-winning golden sand and surfing beach at Woolacombe and it's less than a half hour drive to Exmoor National Park.

The house is ideal for family groups and gatherings of friends. Epchris House is not a party venue or available for groups of single sex young adults. We are child-friendly for age 5+ and well behaved dogs are welcome, but cannot be left unattended at the property. There is private off-road parking for 6 guest vehicles. There is an unusually deep swimming pool at the property which is not available for use. The gate to the pool is locked and the area is secured behind a tall fence and is dangerous and strictly off-limits.

Please note that the site is shared with a private owner's cottage and apartment (accessed via the sun terrace) and a scuba diving company which is based in a chalet at the top of the communal gardens and operates March-October. Most of the work is conducted off-site at Lundy Island, but sometimes a diving vehicle will be loading and unloading gear from the diving trailer which is parked on-site and small groups of customers may walk down the drive to the chalet and pool area. The Utility Room is shared with the owners, which they access from a private courtyard without entering the main house.

Combined open plan kitchen/dining area with a large dining table to seat 12 and American style fridge/freezer with filtered water and ice on demand.
Combined lounge/bar/games room with TV, table tennis table, basketball game and lots of board games. For winter guests there is a wood burning stove.
Smart TV in dining area, TV in lounge and every bedroom. Music via bluetooth soundbar on dining area TV and Sonos bluetooth speakers in the lounge.
Good WiFi signal throughout the property, but not in the garden. Mobile reception is good with most providers.
Combined bar/lounge/games room with table tennis, basketball game, coffee table books and lots of board games.
Wood burner for guest use in bar/lounge/games room.
When booking, guests can choose 6 bedrooms from a choice of 4 king, 2 double and 2 twin. All are en suite barring 1 twin room.
All bed linen and 1 hand towel and 1 bath towel per guest are included. Bed linen and towel changes are available at extra cost during your stay.
Double/king rooms have en suite shower rooms. One twin room has en suite and the other a private bathroom across the hallway.

Shared outdoor children's play area with football goal, trampoline and basket swing. The property isn't suitable for under 5s.
Nearly 2 acres of stunning communal gardens, a sun terrace with outdoor seating for 12 and barbecue area plus an outdoor children's play area.
There is no pool available.
Off-street private parking for 6 vehicles.
Strictly no smoking indoors, smoking allowed on sun terrace.
A maximum of 4 well behaved dogs, cost £5 per dog per night. Dogs are not to be left unattended and damage will be deducted from a damage deposit.


Located in Torrs Park, a quiet residential area of Ilfracombe. It is a 5 minute walk to the South West Coast Path, 10 minutes to the seafront and 15 minutes to the harbour.
Epchris House is located in the picturesque seaside town of Ilfracombe and is a 5 minute drive or 10 minute walk to the sea front or high street.
Lidl, less than 5 minutes by car or a 10 minute walk.
The Spice Lounge is a couple of minutes by car or a 5 minute walk.

Booking Information

For week-long bookings the changeover day is Friday. Weekend stays are 3 nights arriving Friday and departing Monday. Arrival after 4pm and check-out by 10am on departure day. Refundable damage deposit of £500 per booking. Lead booker must be 25+. No single sex young adult groups.
