Farr House is part of a family-run highland estate which now features holiday homes with access to over 12,000 acres of stunning heather moorland. We are conveniently located just 20 miles south of Inverness and a short drive from the world famous Loch Ness.

The family-friendly location is ideal for both young and old alike. Well behaved pets (that respect the country code and stay out of bedrooms!) are very welcome. Guests find self catering at Farr House an enjoyable experience in our spacious, well-equipped kitchen. Traditional and delicious home-cooked meals can also be provided or alternatively we can offer you recommendations for locally based private chefs for special fine-dining events.

Farr House is set in formal grounds and surrounded by ancient Caledonian woodland where families can enjoy beautiful walks, the tranquility of a private loch and spectacular views; there is plenty of space to explore for young and old alike. Highlights at Farr include playing tennis on our private courts, an easy 5 minute walk to Loch Farr where guests can borrow a boat to row around the loch and enjoy swimming or trout fishing.

Explore the gentle walks along babbling burns (perfect for children to paddle in) or, for more experienced hikers, turn towards the dramatic heather clad moors, home to stunning examples of rare and beautiful highland flora and fauna; alternatively, there is a 7-mile scenic hill road across the estate leading to the famous salmon river Findhorn which makes for a challenging bike ride.

The convenience of an accessible location (20 mins to both Castle Stuart - a championship links golf course and Tomatin Distillary - a world renowned whisky visitor centre) combined with the luxury of natural isolation (situated on a private road, over a kilometre in length) ensure that groups can easily meet here to enjoy secluded outdoor adventures in a stunning setting.

Superfast broadband WiFi throughout the whole property, mobile reception (EE only) is limited, however free (reasonable) use of landline.

Kitchen

Very well equipped including 4-door AGA, large electric range, microwave ovens, 3 dishwashers, 2 large fridge freezers. Crockery and glasses for 18.

Dining Room

Can seat up to 24 at one sitting. Open fire available. Separate 'breakfast room' is ideal for additional seating - often used for children's meals.

Sitting Room

Sitting room and library are connected and both feature large, well lit, warm spaces with log burning fireplaces and ample seating for all guests.

TV and Music Facilities

Large smart flatscreen TVs in communal areas with wide selection of DVDs. USB chargers, 3 stand-alone bluetooth speakers and projector available.

Games Room

Wide selection of jigsaws, family board and card games. Adult and child-sized lifejackets provided for rowing on Farr Loch.

Heating and Open Fires

3 large open fireplaces (firewood provided) in library, sitting room and dining rooms. Underfloor heating in all communal rooms.

Bedrooms

Farr House: 3 twin, 5 double rooms (including 1 superking), all en suite, + annex room. Bathrobes, toiletries, hair dryers.

Linen

All linen and towels provided during stay at no extra cost.

Bathrooms

All bedrooms are en suite. 5 feature baths in addition to showers. 1 walk-in wet room.

Children's Facilities

3 cots and high chairs. Children-friendly cutlery and crockery. Dolls house and toys available.

Outdoor

Private tennis courts and trout loch with rowing boat and all equipment provided. Disc golf course in the forest. Pet highland cows.

Swimming Pool

There is no pool but guests can swim in the loch.

Parking

Ample free private parking.

Smoking

Smoking is permitted outdoors - wall-mounted cigarette bins provided.

Booking Information

3 night minimum stay. There are no specific changeover days and the refundable damage deposit is £200. Home cooking and a daily housekeeping service is available on request.

Location

Farr House is located only 20 mins south of Inverness. Driving from the A9, take the Fort Augustus turn off and follow the B851 for 10 mins, through Farr village, the front drive is on your left.

Inverness Bus Station, Margaret St, Inverness. Approx 20 mins away.
Inverness Train Station, Inverness Railway Station Square, Inverness. Approx 20 mins away.
Inverness - 20 minute drive away.
Inverarnie stores is 3 miles (7 minute drive) away along the B851. Tesco is in Inverness and delivers
The Dairy at Daviot is 7 miles (just off the A9) down the road but all of the Inverness pubs, restaurants and cafes are only a 20 minute drive away.
Inverness Airport. 30 minutes to Inverness airport from Farr House.
