This collection of holiday cottages near Machynlleth is a real treasure chest for 3 generation families and friends getting together for a holiday or to celebrate a special occasion. We do ask that there be no outside noise after 1am out of respect for other guests, our neighbours and us!
The conversions include lots of modern additions but retain traditional features including original mill cogs behind a viewing glass and the wooden crown mill in the Watermill, and the Granary's thickly beamed ceilings, inglenook fireplace and Welsh slate walls. All of the cottages are situated in beautiful mature gardens, the Caravan next to the millpond and the Stable in the yard. The Charming Room is a twin in the main house, added luxury perhaps for grandparents wanting to escape the hustle and bustle. Felin Crewi is a delightful place to stay, 5 minutes from Machynlleth and only 20 minutes from the coast.
Kitchens come very well equipped with the Watermill including a dishwasher and farmhouse dining for 8. The other units have full kitchens with the exception of the Charming Room, although it does have tea and coffee making facilities. The lounges are comfortable spaces with plenty of sofas and a TV. The Granary has the added extra of a wood burning stove.
There is a long bench outside the Watermill with seating, an ideal spot for a family barbecue and drinks taking in the blissful sound of the waterfall. The exquisite gardens are great for a total escape, with pretty corners for a coffee and a hammock for some big Welsh skies stargazing.
The combination of cottages and flexibility of bedrooms make this a great option for a mixed gathering. The Stables is a good choice for a young family while the Watermill is a really sociable house for 3 generations wanting a catch up. A king, doubles, twins and bunks with a few en suites keeps everyone happy, all lovely bedrooms with attractive soft furnishings. Facilities are plentiful with a choice of baths and showers.
Felin Crewi has direct access onto the Glyndwr Way for a walk from the door. Beaches within 30 minutes include Aberdyfi and Morfa Borth for fantastic walks and family days out. Machynlleth is a short drive away and has a range of cafes, pubs and restaurants, or make a visit to the fascinating Centre for Alternative Technology. Eryri, or Snowdon, is just over an hour away from the cottages.
