And the venue provides the perfect setting for a country wedding celebration, given its isolated situation, and yet proximity to Newquay Airport and railway and bus connections. Whilst it is suited for most styles of weddings, it is ideally suited for wedfests (festival weddings) and outdoor weddings; the venue can provide woodland and orchard settings for celebrations. The Fir Hill Estate hosts regular wedding fairs which provide an excellent method of understanding the potential ways in which the site can be tailored to the couples’ requirements. Whilst we do not have a wedding license, we are very fortunate to have a church at the top of our driveway (less than 200 metres from the Estate’s gates) and guests love the experience of walking through the Estate’s orchards to the reception on our main terrace. However, some of our guests prefer a registry office for the legal wedding and use the Fir Hill for the party afterwards. As part of our standard wedding celebration offering, there is a 12m x 6m marquee and a smaller 5m x 5m (which usually covers the music band). We have further gazebos to provide cover if the weather is inclement. We have developed a preferred suppliers list which can supply additional marquees (if necessary), large catering tipis, food and catering, entertainers, mobile bars. Each supplier knows the venue well, which prevents the need for any additional site visits in advance. One of main attractions of the venue for couples and their guests is that the site is 100% off grid (10kW solar power station, solar thermal hot water with biomass burner backup, and borehole and spring water). Please be aware that this does place some restrictions on the electrical appliances that can be used on-site without the hire of an electrical generator (which is a normal requirement for weddings these days). We offer the facility of staying at the Fir Hill in advance to assess the site, useful for couples who do not live locally. Should you decide to book the venue for your wedding, this cost will be deducted from the wedding bill. ## Additional Features - Marquee Facilities - Wedding Catering - Wedding Planner ## Facilities - **Dog Friendly:** Pets are welcome in 5 of the yurts. - **Accessibility:** No specific disabled facilities. - **WiFi:** WiFi is available and there is a decent mobile signal. - **Dining Room:** Each yurt has picnic bench seating for 6. In addition there are multiple picnic benches centrally. - **Sitting Room:** Seating area outside each yurt with a barbecue/fire pit. 2 larger seating areas on site with communal use fire pits. - **Kitchen:** Each yurt has its own facilities with crockery etc…provided. There are also further centralised fire pits outside, and a central outdoor kitchen. - **TV and Music Facilities:** There is a large TV for children to use on rare rainy days. Site is not recommended for children under 5 years. - **Games Room:** Board games available. - **Heating and Open Fires:** Fire pits for each yurt as well as for communal use. Plentiful supply of wood. - **Bedrooms:** 1 sleeping area in each yurt with 2 doubles and 1 king. We also provide a smaller yurt with 1 double bed and a single bed. Extra beds available. - **Linen:** Bedding and bed linen is provided. Guests should bring their own towels. - **Bathrooms:** Newly built block with 8 contemporary wet rooms and lavatories. - **Children's Facilities:** Not recommended for children under 5 years of age. TV available for children to watch if raining. - **Outdoor:** Each yurt has own decked area with barbecue/fire pit. 2 communal fire pits.
