Castle Head is the perfect location to explore the stunning Lake District. Divided into 2 main areas of accommodation: the impressive Georgian Wilkinson house can sleep up to 49 people in a mix of room types and also the Hillfoot accommodation wing can sleep up to 110. There is an option to add up to 10 additional camp beds to some of the rooms to maximise occupancy. There are a total of 9 en-suite bedrooms whilst others have shower and toilet facilities nearby. There is 1 twin bedroom with wheelchair accessible bathroom and shower. Although some areas of the centre are accessible for wheelchair users, general accessibility is quite limited. During off-peak season there is also the option of hiring Hillfoot Wing only (including kitchen, dining and some communal areas).

There is a games room which contains a range of board games, TV, Table Tennis and Table Football and also a large sports hall for team games or large gatherings for up to 120 people. There are 5 class/workrooms seating 24-30 and 2 large common rooms - the Hillfoot Common room seats around 60 people and The Chapel comfortably seats around 110 people theatre style. There is also a further lounge (Wilkinson house) which seats around 40 people with cosy open fire. There is also a small library, often used as a small meeting room for up to 8 people.

Self-catering is offered to groups that hire out the whole centre. The dining room can seat up to 96 in one sitting. The Centre has a licensed bar and shop, although these are not available to self-catering groups unless special arrangements are made prior to the visit. Parking is available for around30 cars, additional soft field parking can be opened (in dry weather) for big events.

There is a large front lawn, amphitheatre sloped back lawn, 2 campfire areas, terraced garden and walk along the river. Groups hiring the centre exclusively can camp in the gardens
immediately surrounding the Centre buildings at no extra charge. Charges apply for use of public camping area.

Just 10 miles from the southern tip of Lake Windermere, you will have immediate access to all that the Lake District has to offer.

Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept well under control due to wildlife on-site.

Whilst not a dedicated Centre we have one disabled room with en suite bathroom available.

Kitchen

There is a large kitchen which contains 2 rationale ovens and large induction hob, 20 litre cake-mixer, dishwasher, serving hatch with food warmers.

Dining Room

The dining room can seat up to 96 in one sitting.

Sitting Room

Comfortable and cosy lounge area with open fire. TV lounge and common room areas.

TV and Music Facilities

TV lounge available. Music can be played in common rooms. Projector and sound system in 110 seat Chapel for presentations and films.

Games Room

Common rooms with a range of games, Table Tennis, and Table Football. Large conference room (Chapel) seating approx. 110 people and a sports hall.

Heating and Open Fires

Dormitory and house accommodation fully central heated with open fire in Wilkinson House lounge.

Bedrooms

Mainly dorm rooms with bunks and shared bathroom facilities, with some single and twin en-suite rooms.

Linen

All bedding provided, however please bring your own towels.

Bathrooms

Some single and twin ensuite rooms, extensive shower and toilet blocks.

Children's Facilities

A range of games are available including Jenga, Connect 4, Table Tennis, and Table Football.

Outdoor

There is a large front lawn, amphitheatre sloped back lawn, x2 campfire areas, terraced garden and walk along the river.

Swimming Pool

Not on-site, nearest is Lakes Leisure Centre, Kendal approx. 20mins drive.

Parking

Courtyard with space for some cars, in dry periods cars can park in field. Large coaches are able to gain access to the Centre.

Smoking

Smoking/Vaping is not permitted indoors - there is a small smoking area available outside.

Holding deposit:
Exclusive use: £500 or 10% of the total booking fee (whichever is higher). Full payment required for bookings £500 or less. Invoiced at time of booking, payment due within 28 days of invoice to secure booking.

Shared use: £150 or 10% of the total booking fee (whichever is higher). Full payment required for bookings £150 or less. Invoiced at time of booking, payment due within 28 days of invoice to secure booking.

Balance of the booking cost:
Total booking cost minus the deposit paid. Required 8 weeks before arrival (or at time of booking if 8 weeks or less).

Refundable damage/security deposit for exclusive use from £1000. Required 8 weeks before arrival (or at time of booking if 8 weeks or less).

Only 12 miles from Junction 36 on the M6 and approximately 80 miles from both Manchester and Liverpool, Castle Head has excellent road links.

Grange-Over-Sands is 10 minutes by car where there are local shops and restaurants.
Coastal access available at Morecambe Bay.

Lindale Village has small shop. There is a Co-op, Spar and a Tesco Metro in Grange-Over-Sands. Asda, Morrisons, Sainsburys and Aldi are all available in Kendal.
The Royal Oak in Lindale Village. A traditional village inn with a good range of beer and wine and an excellent reputation for food.
Leeds Bradford International Airport, 55 miles.
