The Gate House is in its own grounds in the hamlet of Makeney. A great base for a family weekend or holiday.

On the ground floor there's an impressive reception hallway with an oak staircase leading to the first floor. The lounge on this floor provides a relaxing space, with a piano, open fire place and comfortable sofas.
Leading off from here is a magnificent indoor swimming pool 7.5m x 5m with a changing room, hot tub for 6 persons.
On the first floor is an open plan kitchen, dining area and second lounge with a wood burner. The TV in the lounge has live TV and films. Bedroom TVs have Netflix.
The kitchen has a double sink, 2 double inset electric ovens with an electric hob and microwave, American style fridge/freezer and an additional fridge. There is dining space at The Gate House for 18 guests and a family bathroom.
Within easy walking distance are 2 real ale pubs, both full of character with beams and real fires, and 2 other pubs serving food. Walkers can take advantage of the many trails which can be taken from the door. Sports available in the area include tennis, fishing and bowls, 3 good riding and trekking stables within a mile or so, several local golf courses, fishing and canoeing in the Derwent.
This area is rich in heritage, with mills, canals, museums and the Derwent Valley Visitor Centre all nearby, and attractions such as the Crich Tramway Village Museum, Matlock Bath’s Cable Cars and Gulliver’s Kingdom, Alton Towers and the scenic limestone dales of the Peak Park and Carsington Water all an easy drive. Ashbourne (the Gateway to Dovedale), the country towns of Matlock, Buxton and Bakewell are easy to reach, with Chatsworth and Haddon Hall a short drive.
