Gildridge House, Magham Down, Hailsham, East Sussex

2 - 12 5 Bedrooms 12 Dining

Impressive historic farmhouse sleeping 12 for large gatherings and family celebrations, with a covered pool, near Hailsham

Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. Gildridge House, Magham Down, Hailsham, East Sussex, sleeps 2 - 12 in 5 bedrooms.

Gildridge House is set on a working farm, with cattle and sheep in Magham Down, 2 miles from Hailsham and near to Herstmonceaux Castle and the Observatory Science Centre and Planetarium. The house is set on the edge of the Pevensey levels with a view to Pevensey Castle and the South Downs. Perfect for a weekend escape, this house is just 1.5 hours from London, 40 minutes from Brighton, and 15 minutes from Eastbourne and Battle. Knockhatch Adventure Park is nearby.

Gildridge House is a farmhouse which caters for large family gatherings, celebrations and cosy country weekends around the inglenook fireplace with the woodburning stove. The dining room seats 12 people.

The air source heated and covered swimming pool, with graduated steps, is a mere 3 yards from the conservatory. The large boot room with sauna and shower room is also next door to the conservatory with more doors to the garden and garage. The main entrance has a small seated area for quiet moments away from the crowd!

A ground floor bedroom with shower room is perfect for grandparents wishing to avoid the two staircases and very accessible for people with mobility issues (although there is one step into front entrance and one step into bedroom). The family kingsize room in the 1990s extension has a bathroom with overhead shower and an area specifically for children with 2 single beds. The master bedroom has a superking bed with an amazing semi circular shower room separating from the next door twin room, and the final bedroom has another superking bed with ensuite shower room.

At the end of the long drive there is a 7 mile meandering lane with little traffic perfect for cycling across the marshes. The driveway lends itself to smaller people, happily cycling! There are two footpaths across the land and other walking opportunities are well catered for. Please note that there are two ponds in the garden.

The fully equipped kitchen is large enough for many to help in the preparation of food. 2 full sized
fridges and freezer for all the perishables and a larder. Unfortunately, the Aga has died but the range has a grill and two ovens. Microwave, slow cooker, two kettles and a toaster.
