It is perfect for family gatherings or friends, weddings, residential courses, corporate/team building events, activities groups, walkers, anglers, climbers, naturalists, geologists. The Lodge is situated in a hidden glen just a short drive along a private road from the village of Lochinver. The front lawn of the lodge leads down to the shores of a beautiful loch with wooded islands. A wide variety of activities are available by arrangement at Glencanisp, including kayaking, trout fishing, pottery and pot-throwing tuition and demos, hire of a nearby music room, and music tuition, photographic deer stalking, archery, clay-pigeon shooting, small bore target shooting, red deer stalking during the stalking season. Kayaks and rowing boat are also available, along with fly-fishing rods and reels. The nearby loch has salmon and wild brown trout. Fishing permits are available to cover a large area of lochs and rivers. Sea-fishing in a chartered boat is available locally. Glencanisp Lodge is a community owned since 2005 when the Assynt Foundation purchased it along with the surrounding 44,000 acre estate. All income from the building goes back to this charitable Foundation to pay for running costs of the building and estates and towards the Foundation's various community projects. The nearby village of Lochinver has a leisure centre, shops, petrol station, bank with ATM, medical practice, visitors' centre, restaurants, bars and harbour. There are many sandy beaches, mountains, waterfalls, footpath walks, and things to do in the surrounding Assynt area. Assynt is a designated National Scenic Area and is part of the North-West Sutherland Geopark.
