Godolphin Cottage is in an enviable position located above the estuary opposite Salcombe, in the pretty village of East Portlemouth.

Originally the post office and shop, an award winning architect designed contemporary and stylish house offering accommodation for up to 10 people in 5 bedrooms.

The pretty garden gets the sun all day with a BBQ, table, chairs, parasol and a small summer house.

With the lovely beaches of Mill Bay and Sunny just short walks away, and situated just 200 yards from the steps down to the ferry over to Salcombe Godolphin could not be better placed for a seaside holiday. Views to the estuary can be enjoyed from the front door and the rural outlook at the back gives a hint of the water and the bustle of Salcombe in the distance.

Godolphin offers a wonderful light and airy space with the main room an open plan living space alongside a beautiful and well equipped kitchen and dining area. Full length bi-fold windows at the back allow you to enjoy the peaceful valley running down to the water, whilst a glass enclosed staircase adds a further dimension to the view!

The house has 5 bedrooms - 2 double rooms and two twin rooms on the first floor, where there is also a bathroom and separate shower & loo. On the ground floor there is further bedroom which can be either a double or twin room and has an en suite shower room.

In the basement there is a fun TV viewing den, as well as utility area with a freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and sink and access to the rear pathway and garden. 

There is easy access to the beaches below, and great walks along the cliffs in all directions.

The bedroom and wet room on the ground floor allow full disabled access.

Godolphin Cottage has WiFi and good mobile reception for most networks.

Kitchen

The kitchen is fully equipped with a wall mounted double oven, electric hob, large fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, blender and cafetiere.

Dining Room

Dining area is part of the large open plan ground floor with a table for seating for up to 10, overlooking gardens through large glass balcony doors.

Sitting Room

The open plan sitting room has fabulous large sofas, squidgy bean bags and a wall mounted TV and music system.

TV and Music Facilities

The main room and the basement area have small wall mounted TVs and the sitting room has a Wharfedale sound bar with bluetooth.

Games Room

The basement has 3 big bean bags and wall mounted TV. The house has a good variety of board games and jigsaw puzzles.

Heating and Open Fires

The house is fully central heated.

Bedrooms

Godolphin has 5 bedrooms - 2 doubles and 2 twin rooms upstairs and 1 room on the ground floor which has zip and link beds & an en-suite wet room.

Linen

All linen and towels are provided at the house.

Bathrooms

Upstairs there is a bathroom with a shower over the bath & a separate shower and WC, as well as an ensuite wet room with a WC on the ground floor.

Children's Facilities

We have a cot and travel cot on request. Please note that our stairs are not suitable for stair gates.

Outdoor

The pretty garden gets the sun all day and has a BBQ, table, chairs, parasol and small summer house. Please note the garden is offset from the house.

Swimming Pool

There is no swimming pool, but the sea is minutes away.

Parking

Parking is at the front of the house.

Smoking

Smoking is not allowed indoors at Godolphin Cottage.

Booking Information

Our changeover day is normally Friday. We ask for a booking deposit of 25% to secure a booking, the balance is then due a month before you arrive. We also hold a £300 returnable damage deposit. Flexible Cancellation Terms – Ask us for details.

Location

Godolphin is situated in the heart of the charming village of East Portlemouth overlooking the estuary opposite Salcombe in South Devon. Beautiful beaches & the coastal path are yards from the door. Pubs nearby in South Pool and East Prawle. 

  • Kingsbridge is the closest town by car, whilst Salcombe is a 5 minute small ferry trip away.
  • The Piglet Stores for milk and papers is 4 miles away whilst the main supermarkets are in Kingsbridge. There are plenty of shops in Salcombe via the small ferry which is just 2 minutes away.
  • The Pigs Nose in East Prawle is 4 miles away, the Venus Cafe at the bottom of the village steps is open in the day in the main holiday periods and the glorious Gara Rock Restaurant is 2 miles away.
  • Exeter airport is 52 miles away.
  • Totnes railway station is 22 miles - a 50 minute drive away.
  • Buses to Dartmouth and Kingsbridge can be caught from Frogmore - 5 miles from the house.
