## About The Property

Gorsefield Rural Studies and Outdoor Activity Centre offers welcoming, practical accommodation set in a beautiful rural location, ideal for groups, schools, charities, outdoor organisations and families seeking a relaxed, space-rich retreat. The Centre provides simple but well maintained facilities, with a strong emphasis on comfort, flexibility and access to the outdoors.

Accommodation is arranged across five dormitories, each sleeping between seven and ten people, alongside three single rooms, two of which are en suite. This layout makes the Centre particularly suitable for organised groups, while also offering quieter spaces for leaders or group organisers. Guests have access to a range of homely indoor communal areas, including a dining room, sitting room, classroom and a large conservatory that works equally well for meetings, activities or simply relaxing together.

The house is let on a catered basis (with options from B&B through to a fully catered service), with catering provided by our in-house Head Chef. Gorsefield is available for term-time bookings, weekend stays, and school holiday bookings.

Set within seven acres of grounds, the Centre offers extensive outdoor space for play, exploration and structured activities. Facilities include an adventure playground, basketball court, football pitch, gardens, orchard, campfire area and wide open spaces for games and outdoor learning.

We offer a wide range of optional outdoor activities for both adults and children, available at an additional cost. These include archery, cycling, orienteering, campfire cooking and bushcraft skills. Please enquire for more details.

The grounds are enclosed and feel safely secluded, while still being easily accessible. Gorsefield is located just a ten minute walk from the historic village of Stansted Mountfitchet, which has a direct rail link to London Liverpool Street in approximately 45 minutes. This makes it an excellent base for groups wanting to combine a rural stay with cultural visits to London. A range of popular local attractions are also within a short drive, including Stansted Mountfitchet Castle, Audley End House and the market town of Bishop’s Stortford.

## Facilities

- **Dog Friendly:** A limited number of pets are allowed and should be kept on the ground floor. Dog owners need to be responsible for picking up waste.
- **Accessibility:** 2 ground floor bedrooms (1 x single en suite, 1 x bunkroom with 6 bunkbeds with wheelchair accessible bathroom).
- **WiFi:** Available upon request.
- **Dining Room:** Comfortably seats 32 people.
- **Sitting Room:** Small sitting room, large conservatory and classroom.
- **TV and Music Facilities:** Projector screen and speakers in conservatory which can be linked to laptop, DVD player, stereo. 
Gorsefield does not have a TV licence.
- **Heating and Open Fires:** Centrally heated throughout.
- **Bedrooms:** 5 dormitories sleeping between 7 and 10 people. 3 single rooms (2 with en suite).
- **Linen:** Bed linen provided. Please bring your own towels.
- **Bathrooms:** 2 shower rooms (3 showers in each), 8 toilets and 2 en suites.
- **Children's Facilities:** Adventure playground and tree house. Large lawn for ball games and running around. Plenty to explore!
- **Outdoor:** Outdoor play area, gardens, outdoor seating.
- **Parking:** Space for 10 cars in front of house. Additional parking along driveway also possible.
- **Smoking:** A designated outside smoking area will be made available. The property and any outbuildings are no smoking areas.
