Stepping into Greyfriars Hideaway is like stepping into a secret space, hidden from the city. A mysterious heavy door leads from street to the peaceful, private courtyard garden– a veritable Eden of greenery with trees, plants and a fountain, tucked between the two imposing properties which sit opposite each other, each with their own space and outside seating area.
The Masters Lodgings sleeps up to 4 people over two exquisite ‘whole-floor’ suites and brims with style, character and antiquity. Each bedroom suite takes over an entire floor and is furnished with its own study-come-dressing room, soft seating area and natural stone and porcelain bathroom, plus hand-made super-king beds complete with made-to-order mattresses. A Listed 17th Century wood-panelled staircase links the bedrooms with the ground floor where there is a hand-made tulipwood kitchen equipped to please any chef, a cosy period wood-panelled sitting room furnished with Harris Tweed sofa and chairs and a more formal dining area, a Butler’s Pantry and French doors leading from the Drawing Room into the courtyard garden with seating beneath the arbour.
Cloisters sleeps up to 8 people in four fabulous suites, one boasting a breath-taking Grade II listed ornate plaster ceiling dating back to the early 17th Century. Each suite is complemented with a dedicated dressing area, soft seating, hand-made super-king bed and Vi-Spring Elite mattresses, porcelain and natural stone bathrooms with freestanding baths and monsoon or raindrop showers. Downstairs there’s a large open-plan reception room with French doors to the garden, a cloakroom, Butler’s Pantry and a stylish kitchen with central island, double ovens, bean-to-cup coffee machine, wine fridge, three sinks with Quooker boiling taps and a dedicated breakfast zone.
