This place feels special from the moment that you walk through the door, while being a holiday home which is both wonderfully comfortable and homely. Perfect for a large family group or friends away together for a weekend reunion. There's certainly plenty of period charm in this one. Original stonework, flagstones, stained glass, period details and the restored Gothic archway all serve as reminders that this really was a church. This incredible house boasts a fabulous mezzanine living space with several original arched windows, with the balcony overlooking the sitting room below, which has a beautiful Victorian stained glass window and cosy wood stove. Upstairs there's also a well equipped kitchen which has a big island for cooking and chatting with the cook of the group, a table allowing all guests to sit down for a meal together, and comfortable corners for reading, playing games or simply putting your feet up. The tower has a spectacular spiral staircase leading to a viewing platform, where there are wonderful views across the valley. The Church is in part an upside-down house, with all 4 bedrooms set on the ground floor. There are 3 bathrooms, including 2 en suites, so plenty of options without a long queue. Outside, the mature garden provides plenty of space. Children and dogs can play games on the enclosed lawns. Fire up the barbecue for al fresco dining. When night falls, the stargazing platform is the perfect place to appreciate the night sky. Just a short walk away, there's wild swimming in the river, try your hand at leisure fishing or pack a picnic and find a quiet spot beside the North Tyne. Head to the medieval town of Hexham, the gateway to Hadrian's Wall, for a day out, or for outdoor adventures Kielder Water and Forest Park won't disappoint.
