Nestled down a quiet, North Norfolk lane is Gunthorpe Hall. A hidden gem, in part designed by Sir John Soane, it has been sympathetically restored as a comfortable, private home with entertaining, quirky details, maintaining the property's original charm.

Please call us to to have a chat about smaller groups & what we can offer. The Hall is arranged in 2 units for hire - The Main Hall and Wing House - Each can be most comfortable for smaller groups.

The Main Hall with 5 to 12 bedrooms (sleeping up to 40).
Wing House (the Georgian wing of The Hall with its own front door) has 4 bedrooms (sleeping up to 11).
In both a total of 51 guests (sleeping family style) can enjoy quality time together.

We welcome groups to celebrate birthdays, family re-unions, weddings, anniversaries, corporate and team building events, retreats, hen and stag weekends... Our dining room can seat up to 60 for a formal celebration dinner, or more buffet style.

Our grade II listed home has plenty of space for guests to spread out in. Relax by the open fire in the welcoming Sitting Room, tinkle on the ivories on our grand piano, unwind with a glass of wine on the parterre, dance the night away in the Oak Hall, get active with a game of croquet or badminton on the games lawn or let the big kids loose in the Billiards Room. Gunthorpe Hall is the perfect country getaway at any time of year.

The grounds offer a unique opportunity for you to host on-site games such as clay pigeon shooting, archery and treasure hunts. The beautiful gardens are a fantastic setting for drinks, picnics or a BBQ during your stay. There is also a quiet, tranquil fishing lake that you are welcome to fish during your stay – please bring your fishing gear with you.

The Victorian walled vegetable garden, along with our own flock of sheep, chickens, inspire the delicious meals prepared by the Gunthorpe Team. We can fully cater for your stay, provide a special dinner only, or you can entirely self-cater.

Facilities

WiFi

Complimentary WiFi in Wing House and parts of the Main Hall but Mobile signal can be patchy.

Disabled Facilities

The Hall is old and on many levels with short bursts of steps throughout - without facilities for disabled guests.

Dog Friendly

There are no pets allowed in The Main Hall. One or two small dogs are allowed in Wing House for a fee.

Kitchen

We have a large kitchen that can seat up to 22 people, with large chesterfield gas cooker, grill and AGA.

Dining Room

Our dining room can seat up to a maximum of 60, and will be set up to accommodate the size of your group.

Sitting Room

We have a large sitting room with an open fire, and access directly out onto the Parterre and landscaped gardens.

TV and Music Facilities

There are a couple of TVs and stereos in the Hall. We have a good music system in the Oak Hall for parties with speakers throughout the ground floor.

Games Room

We have a Billiard Room with nearly full size snooker table and a TV/DVD player with many freeview channels.

Heating and Open Fires

We operate oil fuelled central heating, 2 open fires that are wonderful in the winter time and also 2 stoves for when it's extra chilly outside.

Bedrooms

The Main Hall sleeps up to 40 in 12 bedrooms. Wing House sleeps up to 11 in 4 bedrooms.

Linen

Is included in the hire of the Hall. A Sleeping Plan is available to see how you want the beds made-up to suit your group.

Bathrooms

The Main Hall has 6 bathrooms (2 are en-suite). Wing House has 1-bathroom, 1-shower room and 2-loos.

Children's Facilities

We have a large garden for children to play in, including badminton & croquet set up in summer, as well as areas for ball games.

Outdoor

We have a large, beautiful landscaped garden with croquet and badminton to play, as well as a games lawn and a wonderfully peaceful lake for fishing.

Swimming Pool

No man-made swimming pool, but we do have a beautiful lake for a wild swim!

Smoking

No smoking please.

Booking Information

Weekend hire price (not weddings) is between £4250 to £9500 depending on type of group, numbers and season. Please contact us for a bespoke quote for your stay. Bookings are secured by a 30% deposit and booking form. Fuel is metered and charged as used on departure.

Location

Gunthorpe Hall is located in the picturesque North Norfolk countryside within 10 mins drive of the sea, 10 mins from the picturesque town of Holt and 30 mins from Holkham and Wells beaches.

There are numerous bus services available in North Norfolk.
Kings Lynn and Norwich train station are both within a 45 minute drive.
Within 5 miles is the historic market town of Holt - full of bespoke shops, quality pubs, many eateries and a small theatre. The market Town of Fakenham is 5 miles in the other direction.
The nearest airports are Norwich, Luton and Stanstead.
