Looking for a place to gather for a special birthday, anniversary celebration, stag or hen party, take a look at what we have to offer - you will not be disappointed!

The houses provide spacious detached accommodation with every home comfort. Both properties boast all modern conveniences whilst retaining their period character. Large secure gardens provide safe havens for both children and dogs.

Orchard House (Visit England 4 star Gold rated 2024) is a delightful barn conversion, originally a cow byre now carefully designed to provide spacious accommodation. Throughout the property many original beams and features have been incorporated into the décor, in fact every room has exposed beams. The property has 5 bedrooms - the bedroom on the ground floor has been specifically designed with the wheelchair user in mind, as well as having built in hearing loops for the hearing impaired.

Rose Cottage (Visit England 4 star rated 2024) was originally a small dwelling built of stone in the early 18th century, it has been extended twice to achieve a sizeable detached 3 bedroomed property, but remains perfect for couples too. The cottage still boasts some unique original features including exposed beams and a complete bread oven! A BBQ cabin in the garden provides BBQing in the dry all year!

During your stay you can explore our 154 acre farm & at different times of the year you can help feed the lambs and pigs. Or follow the Corvid Trail and discover the metal birds and deer hidden along the way.

Our luxurious indoor heated swimming pool & games room are an added bonus.

We have a children's outdoor play area and just a short walk away we have built a large BBQ hut with a DIY bar area which seats 21 people, just for Orchard House guests when the properties are booked separately.

What ever you choose to do, relax in our swimming pool; hone your snooker skills in the games room; explore the farm; badger watch at dusk; meet the farmyard animals or simply curl up by the fire with a book, we feel sure that everything at Hicks Farm will match, if not exceed, your expectations of the ideal country retreat for everyone whatever the weather!

Facilities

Dog Friendly

Pets are welcome on the farm free of charge - we just ask that dogs are kept on their leads outside the confines of their garden. Dog tags provided.

Disabled Facilities

The ground floor of Orchard House is wheelchair friendly. It also has fitted hearing loops for the hearing aid user. Please see the Access Guides.

WiFi

Mobile phone reception is very poor as a rural location, so each property has a payphone capable of making & receiving calls. WiFi in both properties.

Kitchen

Both our properties have large farmhouse kitchens. They are well equipped making cooking at home a pleasure. Orchard House has a heated trolley too!

Dining Room

Our large farmhouse kitchens double as dining rooms - so you can be with the family whilst you cook & watch the TV too. Orchard House's table seats 21

Sitting Room

Each lounge has leather sofas, high-seated upholstered wing chairs, wood burning stove, TV, Blu Ray or DVD player - ideal for a relaxing evening in.

TV and Music Facilities

Orchard House has a TV with Blu Ray player in the lounge plus TVs in the kitchen and 3 master bedrooms. Rose Cottage has a FreeSat TV and DVD player.

Games Room

Our games room is very popular. The pool table; table football can bring out the competitive spirit in some of you! There's even a Kids play corner!

Heating and Open Fires

Both properties have wood burning stoves - a delightful boost to the central heating. All logs are provided during your stay and the matches too.

Bedrooms

Orchard House has five spacious bedrooms with one wheelchair user friendly ground floor bedroom suite. Rose Cottage has three upstairs bedrooms.

Linen

All bed linen and towels are provided including tea towels and tablecloths. Although many guests bring extra towels for their daily swimming sessions!

Bathrooms

Orchard House has 3 en suite bathrooms, main bathroom and a downstairs cloakroom. Rose Cottage has 1 en suite, 1 bathroom and a downstairs cloakroom.

Children's Facilities

Full-size pine cots; highchairs provided. Orchard House has an en suite cot room too! Outdoor play area. Brio trainset table; toy corner in Games Room

Outdoor

Explore the farm, follow the Corvid Trail. Feed the animals. Walks from your door. Kid's outdoor play area. BBQ huts for indoor BBQing too.

Swimming Pool

Our luxurious indoor swimming pool is open all year round. The large pool is a welcome diversion if the weather is bad or you need to escape to relax!

Parking

Ample parking is beside each property - there is plenty of extra parking on the farm yards and beside the Pool Barn. (All parking areas are tarmaced)

Smoking

We do allow smoking in Rose Cottage and Orchard House however The Pool Barn is by law a designated no smoking area as are the BBQ huts.

Location

Hicks Farm Holidays is located in the unspoilt Marches countryside where the 3 counties of Shropshire, Herefordshire and Powys meet you will find us!

Presteigne and Knighton are both about 4.5 miles away. The market town of Ludlow is just a 15 mile drive.
You will find small local stores in Presteigne and Knighton but for a Tescos or Sainsburys you will have to go further afield.
The Baron in Bucknell, Horse and Jockey in Knighton, Royal George in Lingen, The Lion in Leintwardine are a few of the local pubs
The nearest main airport is Birmingham however light aircraft can fly into Shobdon airport
The nearest railway station is at Bucknell - it is a request halt on the central Wales line. The nearest mainline station is at Ludlow.
Buses do stop in Brampton Bryan. Knighton and Presteigne have a more frequent service.
